It's such an oddball song. I once wrote a blog post about it and how impractical it was to feed rats to the cats and cats to the rats and to get the cat skins for nothin'. There's waste products in the system so it's not sustainable forever. Also, animal cruelty.

I don't think I bought much TV shows on VHS. I do remember that I had contacts from the USA that sent Star Trek The Next Generation and Quantum Leap on NTSC tapes over.

I i don't recall the movie I had intended to record, but immediately following was the original "The Thing." The next day, from across the house, my dad shouted "Did you record the thing?" Because that wasn't what I had meant to record, I had no idea what he was talking about, so I responded "what thing?" Some "who's on first" style nonsense ensued.

TV on the Radio story: our local community radio station used to transmit a national station during the night hours, for this they changed the signal at the end of the evening - I was taping a show I liked one evening but missed most of before it ended and they made the switch. But this time they made a mistake and started broadcasting the sound of a TV station which was showing Wild at Heart by David Lynch (which I hadn't seen yet).

I listened to that tape quite often, lovely soundtrack of course 🤘

Australia has got a lot going for it - it's beautiful - we have a great public health system, people are funny and friendly - but it's tanking economically lately. I've been to Vietnam a few times and have a few friends that moved there after Uni and lately I'm thinking wow once the kids are older I could just about consider Vietnam - beautiful, safe. cool people.
