Hello, Greg. I hadn't heard this before, but recall that rhubarb tart was used as a running gag in Cleese's pre-Python BBC Radio show "I'm Sorry I'll Read That Again".

When Mr. Cleese was on The Muppet Show, the running gag was who couldn’t sing , but they kept putting him in musical numbers. By the end of the show, he plugs his new album β€œ John Cleese a man and his Music”!πŸ˜„

Funny hearing Sun Ra trying to be normal.

The results are closer to Zappa's doo-wop pastiches than anything that would have been actually a commercial hit.

The Thorndike Pickledish Choir was the alias name for Robert Oh Smith (27 November 1942 - 30 May 2010) who was an American radio DJ, who later in life did voice overs for animation films.

He released several singles in the late 60's under the Thorndike name, some spelt as Thorndyke and others with titles such as the Thorndike Pickledish Pacifist Choir.

None of Thorndike's records were commercial hits, but they did get played on certain American radio stations.
