Hearing Grossmann’s Coltrane-style wailing, alongside an organist, guitarist, and drummer who were cooking with exploratory gusto, was enough to leave me jazz-pilled. It was like somebody flipped a switch. I’ve mainly been going back to all the classic bop records like some classic-rocking teenager discovering Dark Side Of The Moon for the first time, but my ear is perked for new stuff too. Ash and Haskins had recorded and performed in another band, Tones on Tail, between 1982 and 1984. They recorded several albums in very short succession, each one gaining more popularity as they continually moved towards a more radio friendly sound. A fire in their studio in 1995 nearly wiped out the band financially and they lost most of their gear. The band finally broke up after playing their last gig in 1999...in Toronto. Singer Sandra Yau says "“Our fan base is more diverse. There’s more women, there’s more queer people, there’s more people of color taking up more space and I think that’s something that’s important to us, and so that’s why we’re so proud of our fan base,” bassist Jen Lemasters said. “There’s something about being at a show (where) you can possibly see yourself in these situations. The track retains the band’s digital outré aesthetics, but it also proves hypnotizing and danceable, pulling the listener in. Along with the single, the band have also shared an accompanying video, directed by Leah Hennessey. Hennessey says of the video, “We shot the video at 93 Canal, this experimental live streaming studio in Chinatown, which is carrying on the tradition of public access/pirate broadcasting downtown. 2- Camels were imported & driven by Afgan Cameliers for building the trans Oz telegraph & similar. But when superceeded by trucks they were mostly just relesased. Australia now har the largest wild Dromedary Camel pop in the world.
