When James Darren was acting in the Gidget movies the powers that be were going to get a professional singer to record the theme song, but James Darren said he could sing it, and he did. I've never found an explanation of why the Gidget theme song sounds identical to "Give Me the Simple Life."

I grew up in such a town, a faraway backwater where there was 'nothing but the dead of night', and it was (sic) imagination they lacked. The sheets hung in the dirty breeze. Nothing ever happened much. That song was as good a poem as any.

It took me a while to get into Shelleyan Orphan. After Caroline Crawley appeared on This Mortal Coil's “Blood” album I started paying more attention. I admit it took a while to cotton to the guy singer's voice but overall quite liked the band. When Crawley passed away many websites posted their music and videos, which pretty much won me over. Later picked up the box set. “Burst” has always been a favorite. Thanks, Bob, for this hour.

Have a bunch of live tapes in the files (I wasn't a taper-bought some stealth mics that hung on your glasses, and a Sony recorder, but never had the ability to sit still during a show and get a good recording). I did have a friend who WAS a taper, got copies of cassettes from him, then later digitized versions, then later digital recordings. Haven't spent that much time with them (as I say, too much music, too little time). One of these days...
