This comp sounds great! I don't usually expect much from Jemaa el Fna compilations - hard to record out there, performances are usually about getting that tourist money and not necessarily about making the best music. But this sounds good so far

My take comes from spending some decent times on Djemaa el Fna with Gnawa groups over 20 years ago. Things certainly may have changed since then, and there may be different dynamics in the halqas (circles) of other types of musical groups.

they call(ed) it a "constitutional" because the point of the walk was/is to keep your digestive system in shape, (which it does), and that it might induce you to deposit a poop when the walk is finished.
my guess is it was in the us that the phrase got stupidified down to that latter meaning. (which i've never heard of before)

true but it makes no decisions on it's own; it only responds to what it encounters.
the doctor's implication is that it will do what it wants to do and we'll never know why - which is 100% false.

interesting thing about that "Thai? Dai!" album is that, while it sort of hints at a larger "hard rock luk thung" scene, there really isn't a WHOLE lot more of it out there beside what's represented on the comp
