Last night I went to a dance show in a museum.
As usual I was too small to see most of it (usually one dancer in each room, with little space for the audience).
But there was a platform outside with 7 dancers, and few people found it, so I ended up hanging out with them between sets, chatting about dance and their careers (they had just graduated). That was very cool

I want to start whittling when I quit smoking- maybe I should begin the whittling first

Not really. They asked if anyone had questions, I asked one about a couple of specific movements, and got a detailed answer that made everyone else leave, so they sat on the edge of the stage smoking taking a break and I was welcome to join and chat. So I did (which I rarely do, but it was just how the conversation went)

Note to choreographers: I'm good at clearing the room at Q&A sessions. Last year I asked about which notation system the choreographer was using, the answer was very long and drove many away

↳ Song: "Sym. No. 1, Movement 1" by "Glenn Branca"
I saw Branca perform Symphony No. 8 many year ago (on Halloween to boot). The lights were rattling in the theater. I never saw again a conductor use "rolling on the floor" as a direction

People usually want to hear about emotion and feelings in art. I'm more interested in the "how" the older I get
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:42am
tom tom the pipers son:

↳ fred @4:39
right they want to to know what the dancers "passion" is...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:44am
fred:

↳ tom tom the pipers son @4:42
Yeah, they don't want to think of it as work. But it is. Mention health care and injuries and everyone flees, though that's crucial stuff

Also good morrow all. Dome thoroughly toasted down here. Feeling type blessful
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:51am
tom tom the pipers son:

↳ fred @4:44
the whole "passion" thing is a marketing ploy that starts with commercialized psychotherapy and which the market mirrors back to people in a loop
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:51am
fred:

↳ Mattynotimes @4:47
I fully agree. There should be a regular slot in this DJ's future, or Ken isn't thinking right.
Then again, if Ken was thinking right, he wouldn't have dedicated his life to the station...

I mean, who in their right mind wouldn’t dedicate their lives to FMU?

it's like the way people don't want to deal with labor at all.... they want it to be invisible
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:58am
fred:

↳ tom tom the pipers son @4:56
Health care is really important in dance, but nobody wants to hear about it. People think about football as having a 100% injury rate, but dance is the same, even though people want to see dancers as ethereal beings (I blame classical ballet)

on a slight tangent...degas popped into my head for some reason, and how his dancer pastels may be really about child labor and things like dancer injuries and the prettiness of degas work is ironic
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:13am
fred:

↳ tom tom the pipers son @5:04
I find Degas creepy, then again the whole classical ballet scene was creepy at the time (now it's less creepy than brutal, girls get kicked out if they develop breasts too much, leading to eating disorders which lead to injuries)
