Recently I've been thinking "Cry For A Shadow" is one of the most important if not best Beatles recordings in their whole catalog, because it's a really pure recording of Harrison's Futurama, Lennon's original Ricky 325, and McCartney's original Hofner violin bass. It's probably the best example of how those iconic instruments actually sounded when they were still "new", as recorded in a pro environment. Lennon's 325 especially sounds incredible...

I only saw him at Paradise, April '94 with Possum Dixon opening. It was out of control, Possum Dixon started playing a cover of Like A Virgin and someone threw a beer which landed on or near an amp which shut off, and they stopped the show. Then Rev came out and it got crazy. Great show.

That is a great observation, I couldn't put my finger on why I was never sold completely on Full Metal Jacket and you nailed it, after boot camp and such a strong character from Lee Ermey, the movie kind of drifted around too much. It could have been a better film if it expanded boot camp and ended somehow at deployment. I don't know, just rambling thoughts
