Favoriting October 3, 2024: Tonight's Guests: Current lead vocalist for KANSAS, Ronnie Platt & Director Nora Fingscheidt (THE OUTRUN)
Legendary prog rockers KANSAS are currently on their 50th Anniversary tour. Tonight we're sitting down with their current frontman Ronnie Platt. Then it's movie time and I've got 4 films that couldn't be more different from each other but are all amazing in their own way. First up, THE OUTRUN. Rona, played by the stunning Saoirse Ronan (Lady Bird) leaves London to take a job monitoring wildlife in the remote Orkney Islands of Scotland in an effort to save her life in this moving film that takes us inside a crisis of mental health and alcoholism. Tonight on the show we have Director Nora Fingscheidt. Our second film, SATURDAY NIGHT, takes us to the insane 90 minutes leading up to the premiere of the most legendary sketch comedy show in television history Saturday Night Live. For the documentary lovers we have LEAP OF FAITH. 12 Christian leaders, from the most progressive to the most conservative churches in the Grand Rapids, Michigan area meet to find common ground in an ever changing and challenging world. Finally we present our STONER FLICK PICK: FRANKIE FREAKO. When uptight Conor calls a 1-900 number late at night to get a little freaky he unwittingly unleashes the little party animal Frankie and his pals and all hell breaks loose. THEATRE: Halloween is right around the corner and The Old Globe in San Diego has got the show for you, DRACULA: A Comedy of Terrors. CONCERT: We wrap up the night moved by the haunting melodies of ANOHNI & The Johnsons at the Walt Disney Concert Hall.

… well, I will inform you: when I posted via the woof moo iPhone app, the audio immediately goes dead, & one has to simply reboot. 🤷‍♂️

oh boy, but good to know. Thanks for dropping in.

* ‘goes dead’ = shoulda read ‘went dead’, yet it only happened once for me - seems to be ok now. 🤔

- although, ya know… Kansas has been known to drive certain segments of the human population with ears into hiding 😶‍🌫️ 🫣 🙉 … you know i jest & that i love your show - no matter what & even BECAUSE of the wild swings in content.

I respect that, lol

I caught that new SNL/Jason Reitman film at a mini filmfest preview of 7 films🍒picked for Dartmouth (via their Telluride connection). Loved it as a concept and for its ambitious, bold swing for the stars attempt. & I agree that the casting of mostly non-famous actors is wonderful. Yet, my feelings and takeaway vibes were very conflicted and muddled…(as if I had eaten a meal that I initially thought was delicious & healthy, yet ended up getting food poisoning later that evening. I feel making a bio-docu-drama on SNL is nearly an impossible task to accomplish.

I loved it so much I've been hoping they'd spin it off s a series because there are so many great stories through out its history.

What happens when Lorne Micheals retires …(or dies, whichever comes first) 😏 … is it gonna just disappear into the ether poof 💨 … can’t imagine anyone else making it work.
If anybody dares to continue it - it will most likely be very different (?!?) 🤔

I don't know about that because I think there were some great writers for the show that could do it, would they want to would be another matter

Erik/VT:

Thanks again Mr BB - your show is unique and compelling in the special way you’ve conceived it.
- fyi, I have recently generously given to WFMU on the whole as an entity … not sure if I will be getting any emoji icons.
