More power AND protection for the press! Thx for the interview, Brian, and thx for doing. On the flip side is the press which has so sold its soul. NYC has the free paper am-metro, owned by schneps media; they have more local papers. It’s full of puff pieces. If their writers get arrested it’s because they don’t laud the subject enough! since at least 2001 when United States of America v. Microsoft Corporation ended in a settlement rather than any real action against Microsoft. That took the teeth out of the Sherman Antitrust Act of 1890. I expect similar non-results in the Google case. (Remember when Microsoft was the "bad guy"?)

I cancelled my new york times subscription today because I couldnt log in to the account. Their support people told be to install their app so I could read it on my phone, which I do not want, and to install Google Chrome on my computer because the new york times is designed to work best with that, rather than firefox! SUlzberger is going to miss my $4 monthly!

Brief Hole

Dredging through the inversions of intention.
All things materialize, as microorganisms overrun constituent cells.

Feeding frenzies versus innocent ignorance.

Swirling around perfect calm. Omniscient, nescient, omnipresent, absent, omnipotent, powerless. Control through inherent abandon.

All things matter toward restoration.
Nothing matters toward effect.

Illumination into illusion.
Fields into souls.
Unity holds all difference. Ripe for a smattering via mist. Concrete. Residue. Residence. Residents.

Waste matters. Thought matters. Count matters. Pace matters. Transference matters. Intention matters. Sense of belief matters. Geology matters.

Churning and stirring. The invisible weighs more.
Inversions touch liquid mirror droplets amid phantom gatherings quenched temporary at summary hills through tail tremor wind lick.

Kinda related to google monopoly is Amazon. And I’m seeing a play tonight , described-

As the oceans rise, a band of queer warehouse workers travel from job to job, running from the encroaching coastline.
An unlikely love story, and a startling new work of speculative fiction, In the Amazon Warehouse Parking Lot is a quietly revolutionary tale of queer aging, chosen family, and the search for home in a volatile world.

I’ll report next wk. gotta feed cats at the office. Thx, Brian, take care all.

that's absurd, I hate when they push their apps or a singular browser... the web used to be about incusion and compatibility across platforms. sheer laziness on the programmers over there. especially given the fact that you were an actual subscriber and not just a leech.

It didn't seem as innocent as laziness of programmers. More like greed. They wanted google power and all the data that's fit to steal. NYT has to turn a profit somehow.

To be fair, it's not the programmers' fault. It takes a lot of work to make websites work cross-platform, and the more video, interactive content, etc, they embed the harder it is. it was simpler to achieve when websites were a lot simpler, and unless it's a real priority, the companies won't pay for it. It's not the programmers who are lazy, it's the people who pay them don't want to pay for something (cross-platform compatibility) that they don't deem important.

of course the greed comes from on high, the programmer is just hired to do the job. I never said the greed was the programmer's.

sorry, it was Will who said "sheer laziness on the programmers over there". Anyhow the programmers aren't lazy, they just do what they are paid to do, and don't do what they aren't paid for.

I've been coding HTML and stuff since '96 there used to be specific cases in your code for other browsers to make sure the page displays properly across all platforms. I probably shouldn't have said the programmers are lazy, it is almost always corporate greed...
