saw something new on the subway yesterday ...two women sitting side by side chatting while breastfeeding their babies. beside one of them a three or four year old girl tapping away on a cell phone. they were from somewhere in the americas and it was a pleasure seeing public space invigorated by them....but hope the girl gets off cell phone sooner than later

Nice. Reminding me of the weird witches from Beast Master, the earliest memory I have of being scared shitless of a movie, but unable to stop watching. It was those damn winged man eating weirdos under the tree.

inside the subway cars it's pretty clean, especially since covid, but saw a germ count comparison between subway and other places, prior to covid and subway was relatively clean

i saw this interesting lecture on monet in school that was about that transition in his landscapes from early where there would be some kind of road leading you into pictorial space to later where there was no road and the viewer experienced the painting on purely optically terms.....i like monet's very late paintings most

Worst I heard was at a Jeff Koons (surprise!) retrospective, where the curator insisted on having female docents in the "porn room", to predictable bullying results

right... well maybe frederic wiseman then

working as an art installer, the installers were invited up to director's office, the museum was in a fmr fifth ave mansion. when we entered the office there were several bottles of wine on a desk. we were invited to a wine tasting...but we were guinea pigs...it became apparent they only wanted to know what the proles taste in wine would be for an upcoming opening... so it was quite "upstairs downstairs" like the building was still dictating the rules

The whole Koons vibe was bullying. The docents had a party when it was over, celebrating its being over.
That started when installment, Koons came and said it was crap and his people would do it instead (he barely showed up, it was his plan so he'd get more money)
One docent organized concerts, he put a crossed out pic of Koons face on his flyers for years
