I gather I am not alone.
The angst in the audience at Richard Thompson was palpable.
Thankfully Richard’s wit and great playing lifted the mood.
Still, I’ve rarely felt that kind of energy, the collective feeling of defeat.

The funny thing was, he was on his second tour he got his draft notice from the army. He was already the section head on a crash crew in the air force. he also ran the base dental lab. If he had been drafted, he would for sure have died a foot soldier in the mud.

I think it informed the way he looked at life after that.

So many great albums in 1974. My personal favorite was prog rock - Turn of the Cards by Renaissance. Runners up are Late for the Sky by Jackson Browne, Court & Spark by Joni Mitchell, Heart like a wheel by Linda Rondstat, ElDorado by ELO, The Land Lies down on Broadway - Genesis. So many other great ones that year (Queen, Bowie, etc, etc)

Yeah ‘Angie’ I think only lasted one or two seasons. It initially had great ratings and was the toast of the critics (despite being after all only a sitcom about a working class gal dating a medical doctor) but then ratings fell apart and they retooled the show (always a sign of desperation), and when that failed to reverse the show’s trajectory, it was quickly canceled.

The French language really suited Kevin. They loved him, and the Soft Machine generally, in France - treated like a real artist

As did I. He was super sexy. Sadly he really degenerated in his later years.
I saw him in the early 90s in SF. It was depressing.
Then, Ollie Halsall’s passing was like a gut punch.
