The Radio Is Broken is a three-hour spelunk through the canyons and fissures of humanity's collective unconscious. It sounds as if a field recording of the Culture Industry were a sonic juggernaut barreling down a rickety track—except that tunnel ahead is just painted onto a sheer cliff wall. With occasional forays into what might pass for "normal" music. Prerequisite journey: Cratedigger's Lung

saw godspeed you black emperor in lawrence monday for those not in the know

excellent show, alan sparhawk of low opened with a mix of hyperpop and folk rock, his kid accompanied him on bass

godspeed came on, played a drone jam that segued into their latest album, they then played a cut from their previous album and then ended it with east hastings and a noise freakout

really interesting projections, it was a mix of like shots of factories, landfills, riots, etc

the projectionist started setting the film on fire at the end

I know I'm a weirdo, but: Of the Kubrick movies I've seen, Dr. Strangelove is the only one I like. It's the only one where it makes sense for every character to be completely repulsive. For instance, everybody in Lolita makes me want to puke and can go fuck off a short pier.

I wonder if that's WFMU's Rebecca Lewis. She is the one who does important stuff for our archives. She's awesome!

to me it marks the beginning of their decline. i don't know about the popular opinion about tarkus. maybe among true "prog heads" it's on a higher level. it should be anyway. but b.s.s. was more commercially successful, probably.

i can't disagree. but they were always a mixture of commercially marketable material and completely not.
the title track tarkus is ~20 minutes long and too out there for an excerpt to be released as a single. and their desire to do a complete version of pictures at an exhibition was not exactly met with open arms by the record company!
