News to me: Harry Smith B-sides! The back closet of obscurity for sure...did not know this existed

Regarding Christmas music my suggestion is play Duke Ellington's reworking of The Nutcracker. Come to think of it, I think Jimmy Smith has a Christmas album tool
hello dr jazz... i listened to horace silver's the preacher and although flirting with pop, it's inception was very different than morgan's sidewinder...silver really using a "dixieland" phrase while morgan's concept was modern.... so imho, a somewhat accidental surface similarity and you can tell me if it's too early for this... ; )
it's OK to have your take on it. Much Horace Silver sounds Soul-jazz to me (but did the whole sound of Soul change in 10 years, sure. Silver's sound was his own.
I saw a guy on the subway that looked a lot like Evan Parker. I didn't say anything, but sure peeked at his bag to figure whether a sax could be in there (nope)

Hello Jeff and DO-Oh-Ohs! New Whirlpool washer delivered and installed on Tuesday. Smoother, quieter, gentler. No dramas, no jumping around the cellar on the spin cycle, no dirty residue spit into the laundry.
Downtown Music Gallery has an interesting show tomorrow night (last time I was there for a show was the Sunday night just before the COVID lockdown). Working, but maybe head in if i have energy... avantmusicnews.com...
the term "running room" was used by architect adolph loos in a critique of art nouveau's aesthetic of applying design to everything, meeting our every need, so that you could not tell the difference between a "teacup and a chamber pot" and creating no 'running room' between subject and object...meaning a sort of existential leeway...
today seems like tech is "meeting our every need" in the same way... producing a similar lack of "running room"
Jeff! Thank you, and to you and yours.
Funny you should ask. There is more than one yacht club on the lake. I'm staying at the Madame del Formaggio Yacht Club, aka my mom's.
Boston area. I've learned to like them. We don't have a huge Mexican-American population here, most of our taco places are run by Guatemalans or El Salvadorans
@chresti - Maybe you could win a Speed Queen washer on Queen For A Day. They're supposed to be the real heavy duty, runs forever gear. But they're up in the four figures for price!
Don't need the NAS for that, just software (JRiver is what I use on my PC to play hi-rez files). Eventually the NAS will be for backup and streaming (but I can already stream, also through JRiver)
The verb "nurse" is strange. When you nurse a person, you're trying to make that person feel/get better. When you nurse a cough (medical condition), you're trying to kill it.
I once got a few shots of that from a bored attendant at a show when I got in early. I'd recommend peat instead anyway (against cold, but really as a general policy)

To put your minds at ease, I don't participate in winter holiday gifting practices. So I am not expecting anything and neither should you.
Exceptions made for season's good cheer and glad tidings.
