If you exist outside of the Philadelphia ecosystem it's unlikely you would be familiar with them, but it's a HUGE deal, going back over 100 years there, with the tradition having roots in Europe and Scandinavia that go back to the middle ages

The Mummers Parade is an annual parade that takes place in Philadelphia every New Years Day. People march and dance in hand made costumes for hours. That's all I know. Was never into the Mummers.
