When my grandfathers house burned down he had to argue endlessly with the insurance company... I believe he had to get lawyers involved to force their hand to pay for rebuilding PLUS new building code which then required substantial pilons for their hillside home... anyhow, I hope everyone is doing well...

It's a sort of "waste imperialism" IMHO. OTOH with SO many people right here in NYC who need stuff...I mean, it's a ton of clean, folded unisex size Large T-shirts. When I was in the process of decrappifying my old apartment in anticipation of a move, I had even more of them. I left them in a box labled "Free Shirts" in English and Spanish. They were gone in an hour. Later that week, when I was doing laundry at said laundromat, one of the worker's little girls came in...wearing one of my T-shirts cinched at the waist with two tied together shoelaces as a dress. About a week later a homeless guy on the subway was wearing one of my shirts (these were mostly old woot.com T-shirts). If worse comes to worse I'll just start leaving boxes of them in the pocket park across the street from me where a lot of unhoused people pass through.

I feel bad throwing them in the trash but there's literally not much else I can do with them. They can't be used for cleaning rags or similar like old t-shirts, or patched into perpetuity and/or cut up for patches like old jeans.

Aggravatingly enough, they actually sell boxes of white cotton rag material, like giant tissue boxes, for contractors to use for applying stains/waxes/etc. So even more crap in landfills.

It's a sort of "waste imperialism" IMHO. OTOH with SO many people right here in NYC who need stuff...I mean, it's a ton of clean, folded unisex size Large T-shirts. When I was in the process of decrappifying my old apartment in anticipation of a move, I had even more of them. I left them in a box labled "Free Shirts" in English and Spanish. They were gone in an hour. Later that week, when I was doing laundry at said laundromat, one of the worker's little girls came in...wearing one of my T-shirts cinched at the waist with two tied together shoelaces as a dress. About a week later a homeless guy on the subway was wearing one of my shirts (these were mostly old woot.com T-shirts). If worse comes to worse I'll just start leaving boxes of them in the pocket park across the street from me where a lot of unhoused people pass through.
