Nice choice for today.

Dean:

The combination of music and uttered narrative, even or especially when the narrative is an instance of great literature or sermonizing, is no easy feat. MLK's intonation here is just right. It reminds me of two recordings of Tobias Picker's The Encantadas, a marvelous symphonic poem featuring recitations from Melville's eponymous "story." The first recording features Sir John Gielgud as narrator. The second recording features the composer himself, an American. If it wasn't already obvious, a comparison of the two reveals how inapt Gielgud's contribution was. How can anybody but an American intone Melville? Picker was born in NYC, and he suffers from Tourette's syndrome. My question is rhetorical, but in fact I believe there are ways a non-American, non-Tourette's narrator could do perfectly well. But Gielgud ain't that narrator.

You don't have to keep retesting for a negative, if you've completed isolation, and improving, you shouldn't be contagious (an odd thing of rapid tests-they pick up viral protein, not necessarily "live" virus. I have this rare genetic liver/lung disease, Alpha 1 Antitrypsin, which makes me very susceptible to anything lung related. Also makes it difficult to carry heavy gear, as I get winded, so shoveling is gonna be ...awesome ;-) Hope Ms.Jazz is ok! Gotta see the orthopedist and heart doctors on Friday.
