I had been following Lynch since I first saw one of his single panel cartoons—Angry Dog perhaps?—probably in the Village Voice in the 80’s. As I was watching this latest incarnation of his art of moviemaking, I’m thinking “Wow”, but also thinking, “Is she liking this, or enjoying this, or whatever this, because, you know, David Lynch?” A few years later, we did not know if our child was going to be a boy or a girl, but we seriously considered naming the child Pace, as Lula and Sailor did.
A great loss in the world of film, music, and art.
A great loss.

He took up the fight for justice. It wasn't easy, and he faced massive opposition, but he led us to a better world. And, paid the price for it with his life. Let us honor him, and all who fight for justice. Remember the Dream, and carry the fight forward, for justice is never an easy fight.

In the years since The Return’s conclusion, reality and the dream world have continued to blur in that deliciously Lynchian way. Reber, now a true Twin Peaks obsessive herself, generously allows vetted fans to tour her/Laura/Alice’s house, functioning as a sort of shepherd for what has become a cherished pilgrimage site for those who see themselves in the tormented Laura. Warm and empathic, Reber often ends up listening to her visitors’ stories of trauma and heartache and comforting them with a combination of wisdom from her own life and thoughtful analyses of Lynch’s work. In many ways, Reber has become inextricable from Lynch’s fandom; her home is an emotional nexus and unofficial museum, teeming with talismans and pieces of art that patrons have left for Laura and Reber over the years."

Though for me, I actually learned about this song and Nina in general through the '90s remake of The Thomas Crown Affair. I had to look this up online from the lyrics, it was SOMETHING ELSE! Who is this? What country are they from? Where is this song from? Is it gospel? Jazz? Soul? A real mind-opening moment when I first entered the world of Nina Simone.
