Obscure musical gems, avant experimentation, and classics worth rehearing. A conurbation of Leslie speakers, timbales, plungers, arch-tops, tablas, and squeaky reeds. Black ties, pork pies, Cuban boots, Nudie suits, bobbysocks, turtlenecks, and high-heeled sneakers. Jazz is the north star but it’s a wide universe, so says The Laughing Clock.

RE: redress to persons interned in WWII from wikipedia:
en.wikipedia.org...

February 24, 1983: The CWRIC issues its final report, titled Personal Justice Denied. The report concludes that the wartime incarceration was caused by "race prejudice, war hysteria and a failure of political leadership," and recommends a formal apology, the creation of a foundation to educate the public about the injustice, and $20,000 in reparations paid to each former inmate.
August 10, 1988: President Ronald Reagan signs the Civil Liberties Act into law. The act's provisions incorporate the recommendations outlined in Personal Justice Denied.
October 9, 1990: A ceremony is held to present the first redress checks to nine Issei.
1993: Issuance of redress checks is completed. A total of 82,219 former camp inmates received reparations.

And yes, in spite of that process seems no lessons learn. Or perhaps the wrong lession learned.

Odd blast from the past, the reference to "banality of evil," which reminded me of the kerfuffle between Corey Robins and Chelsea Clinton about the meaning of the term. Despite her highfalutin' education, she seems not to have understood what Arendt was about.

Oh, wait. tttps was referring to Chelsea, not to Hannah! I took the comment as a perfect mingling of the two topics of my prior one, the significance of the phrase and the relevance of biography to interpretation. But you meant Chelsea and her bonehead dad!

Need to reread Theweleit's Male Fantasies, soon.

This V-Disc box is a joy.

I forget where you are, speaking geographically, DJ Peter, but if you find yourself in the Bay Area, do hie thee to Groove Yard, a record store in these parts that I have to make a point to avoid, much like Down Home. I have no doubt that you would enjoy most a day there.

the guitar playing reminds me of 80s al di meola, especially soaring through a dream

(a lot of people find that album to be kinda cheesy but i liked it a lot, has airto moiera and a couple of guys from pat metheny's band)
