King might have been influenced by Heep's singer. I do hear some resemblance to what King would later do. with his own voice, even when he claimed that he didn't know what falsetto was until told by a fan, but he certainly had heard it before even if he was not familiar with the name of that particular singing style. He did acknowledged Halford's influence.
