Way back in 1990, through 1992 I worked in East Windsor at RCA Astro Space. They built a lot of satellites and I spent two years working on and testing the Mars Observer Spacecraft. Sadly, it exploded when it was commanded to begin its orbit upon arrival at Mars

Joni ventured jazzy on album titled “Mingus” 1979 (a collaboration with Charles himself).
re Tom Waits, a cornucopia of riches abounds! Imo, a sleeper creative transitional album (just before the magnificent 80s “trilogy”) was his soundtrack for “One from the Heart” (1982). His “mule variations” (1999) is stellar. “Alice” (2002) etc etc etc.
& yes, I concur, definitely try that original Lambert Hendricks & Ross version of “twisted”. Their ‘best of’ collection is great fun. 😃

having favorites (in the case of albums) is inevitable; although i often have *3* favorites or 4 favorites (etc) i don't have to pick them. (maybe they pick me?)
...i could say it depends on my mood. sometimes "blue" is what i want to hear; but much more often it'd be ladies of the canyon.
...i like hejira's very good, but not as adventurous as the albums it's in-between.

Indeed! I often feel that Joni’s album after ‘Blue’, “For the Roses” 1972 gets a bit overlooked in her career.
I realize it’s not a popular choice, but I got a kick outta the very mid 80s synthetics move with Thomas Dolby produced “Dog Eat Dog” (1985).
Gotta revisit with aging ears & much distance. Wonder if it’s lost its novelty out-of-it’s-era. I loved Neil Young’s “Trans” when it arrived & believe it holds up fine to this day.

i really do need to revisit. i played all my Joni Mitchell a year or 2 ago - to grade them for selling; and i most enjoyed the jazzier, more adventurous ones...the ones that got panned upon release i guess.
(and i listened to "Mingus" and "dog eat dog" on snotify)
but i could stand to listen to them all again.
(i made "needledrop" files of them)
