Yeah, Mike Ratledge. I have read, but of course can't source it now, that his relentless solo style in the early Softs days was dictated by the equipment. With his organ (Lowry, was it?) running through a fuzz pedal and loud amps, if he let up for an instant, it would go into massive and unpleasant feedback. So it was full throttle all the way.
