I think there were a few Artists in the very last years of the 60s & the very earliest 70s putting out stuff that to me seems like Folk Musics that had always been - from the second they were published. (TheBand & so on...) I was born the end of 1963 - so it may well seem so to me, of course... Someone might call the Carter Family's Musics 'flat' if they cared to... Yeah - 'Attics of My Life' seems to me the finest LSD Hymn. 'Step Inside This House' by the Elevators notwithstanding... This is where writer Robert Hunter comes in for some respect... I also like to reference 'American Beauty' cause the Dead have come in for so much commentary as - yerknow - they cannot Play, Write, Sing - or use the Studio. I posit this Album demonstrates otherwise...

A friend of mine who equally doesn't get the music came with me to a benefit concert for Jane Dornacker, who died in a helicopter crash. All the SF luminaries played short sets, including Jerry Garcia and Bob Weir on acoustic guitars accompanied by Mickey Hart on brushes. Garcia went off on a swirling circular solo for a looong time, the crowd cheering him on. My friend said, "OK, so that's what Jerry Garcia is all about ..." I wholeheartedly agreed.

(TheBand & so on...) I was born the end of 1963 - so it may well seem so to me, of course... Someone might call the Carter Family's Musics 'flat' if they cared to... Yeah - 'Attics of My Life' seems to me the finest LSD Hymn. 'Step Inside This House' by the Elevators notwithstanding... This is where writer Robert Hunter comes in for some respect... I also like to reference 'American Beauty' cause the Dead have come in for so much commentary as - yerknow - they cannot Play, Write, Sing - or use the Studio. I posit this Album demonstrates otherwise...

A friend of mine who equally doesn't get the music came with me to a benefit concert for Jane Dornacker, who died in a helicopter crash. All the SF luminaries played short sets, including Jerry Garcia and Bob Weir on acoustic guitars accompanied by Mickey Hart on brushes. Garcia went off on a swirling circular solo for a looong time, the crowd cheering him on. My friend said, "OK, so that's what Jerry Garcia is all about ..." I wholeheartedly agreed.
