With billows and blasts from choirs and orchesters
Buskers and talkers
Big bands and squawkers,
the Stork Club has retained its qualities of decaying elegance and dwindling significance since the late 1950s.

February 16, 2025: Dedicated to the Memory of Listener Love2Laf
We lost a wonderful friend this week. Listener Sue, known on the many chat boards she joined on The Drummer Stream and elsewhere as Love2Laf, was a warm, witty presence who will be forever missed. We send our condolences to Sue's husband and family, and to all those whom she graced in this world. Rest in peace.

Certainly a Username I've associated with good things.
Have thought that when I pass - people could be certain that WFMU (whatever idiosyncrasies of the thing & anyone involved) authentically improved the quality of my life as I perceived it...
Gratitude & Sincere Condolences.

I'm old enuff - & enuff of a Gittarhead : There was a time when things were less Politically & Genre-wise atomized that - no matter what yer fave Musics were ...if you wuz a Gittar nut - Nashville was the Capitol of the Universe. Ultimately.
LBJ singing the Civil Rights Act in 1965 & then Nixon's Southern Strategy are what really drove the wedge between - say - Folk & Country Musics & Cultures as they subsequently defined themselves ?
Ringo just played the Ryman & all fwiw... The BYrdS having hair over their ears - & bringing a Drumset to the Grand Ol' Opry was a Statement in the late 60s still... & of course HonkyTonk & Outlaw Country & since AltCountry & - 'Americana' - challenge the Corporate ~ RightWing Nashville stronghold...
In short :
You don't hate Country & Western.
You hate Crapitalism.

In processing the sad news after today’s close of the Reggae Schoolroom, I recall the positive and uplifting comments she posted over her many years as a listener. She was thrilled when DJ Jeff would not leave out a single soul in the world as he wished each and every one a hearty good morning, good day, good evening and good night!
So sad on this day, but brightened by the fond memories of a fellow classmate.
