The Radio Is Broken is a three-hour spelunk through the canyons and fissures of humanity's collective unconscious. It sounds as if a field recording of the Culture Industry were a sonic juggernaut barreling down a rickety track—except that tunnel ahead is just painted onto a sheer cliff wall. With occasional forays into what might pass for "normal" music. Prerequisite journey: Cratedigger's Lung

Also, of course. They wear the influences on the outside. I just mean the masterful gracefulness of very big, slow moving, ugly ugly chords. Impeccably professional and arty, unlike Sabbath's working-class troglodyte ox kind of thing. Hard to get my feeling across...The Melvins are very finessed, which is unusual in metal-lilke music. At the show, Iggy was being characteristically provocative, and some biker in the audience was giving him a hard time, so he kept beaking off, and the guy just kept staring him down. At the end he was stationed out in an aisle way, motioning of for Iggy to come down an 'get it'. So Iggy thought 'well, I'm committed here, so I guess I have to do this..", so he went down and faced the fucker, and he decked Iggy and knocked him out cold. Thus the KO in the album title.
