Obscure musical gems, avant experimentation, and classics worth rehearing. A conurbation of Leslie speakers, timbales, plungers, arch-tops, tablas, and squeaky reeds. Black ties, pork pies, Cuban boots, Nudie suits, bobbysocks, turtlenecks, and high-heeled sneakers. Jazz is the north star but it’s a wide universe, so says The Laughing Clock.

DJ Peter, your cold must be atrocious: my child also has a cold and that did not stop him from eating over half the blueberry muffins baked this morning.

even a passionate desire for the a.s.a.p. demise of those enemies of the majority is borne out of Love.

As it happens, I (re)watched Airplane 75 two nights ago, with Gloria Swanson playing herself and indeed herself writing a book (memoir)

That Solal/Hawes track was a lot of piano, almost as much as Tatum could play with one hand tied behind his back, but I don't think I've ever listened to a recording and thought, "that's too much piano!"

Bob Porter has a book, Soul Jazz, about how regular old Black musicians are underappreciated
coelacanth∅:
but of course they eventually realised they could sell a lot more of them if they were twice as sweet; and they could cut their production costs in half if they used a less wholesome, potentially more harmful sweetener.
same thing happened with these wonderful "rice crispy treats" we sold. they switched to barley malt - which isn't so bad, but there goes all the gluten-free customers.
and they just didn't taste as good.
i doubt they're in business now.

Also, do you puree your lentils? I had some really good red lentil / squash soup from Orchard Hill (Alstead, NH) and they pureed the lentils and it was awesome.

I didn't puree. The recipe called for it, but I lost the will to live about 8 o'clock and decided to just eat it then. And I don't regret it! The soup is slightly al dente, which I enjoy.
