I mean, I had an event in Elmhurst last night. Normally it's a 15-20 minute car ride MAX, but I wanted to get there early to talk to the organizer. Took me almost 50 minutes. There's almost NEVER any traffic going point to point in Queens. Looks like EVERYONE was getting out last night.

Ditto for my downstairs coffee place -- I went at an odd time right after my rush assignment hit at 11:30 AM -- post-breakfast and pre-lunch the place is usually pretty tame. Almost every table full. Luckily I was front of the line but then a bunch of folx came in right behind me.

And today's "today I learned" PSA -- try to buy your produce as organic as possible. No, they are not "healthier" as the non-organic varieties, and yes, there's a higher chance of E. Coli and/or insect damage, so just wash the heck out of it. OTOH mass ag produce ALSO has E. Coli outbreaks all the time due to handling AND is sprayed with SO MUCH CRAP. SO MUCH CRAP. If you have to get supermarket produce seriously wash it really well also. Also try to get unprocessed foods. Processed foods=higher concentrations of whatever shit was sprayed on base crops. I mean, I have been on this case for less than 3 days and I swear it makes me want to move to the most remote fertile island possible and live on whatever grows there.

I mean, I knew about all the crap in commercial beef/especially commercial poultry/mass produced farmed fish forever. OTOH the sheer amount of stuff on mass ag crops...wow...just wow...I knew about WHAT was being used but not the volume and just how many chemicals were used on monocrops. Can we feed a hungry planet without them? No idea but we're not currently solving localized world hunger WITH all the crap either. Sigh.
