i was supposed to stay w/ a friend who was having boyfriend issues (so, we couldn't stay there). so, me and my friend slept in his volvo in a subdivision under construction. a cop came by *southern drawl*, "i don't like what you boys are doing, you best get out". *insinuating we were having a gay trist* we were just sleeping.... so, we drove all night to go to howard finster's paradise gardens....

Not sure - a catbird? / a grackle? Scratchy indeed.

I’ve been meaning to say, I’ve always often used slowed birdsongs in my recordings. Perhaps sporadically. But I just put something together recently. Using slowed birdsongs sounds from here in Athens.

I remember my first and only proper birding excursion. With an elderly woman named Holy Johnston. The piano player for our church. She drove a white Lincoln and was a widow for some time. I gardened for her and she taught me not to eat the leaves of rhubarb. But our bird trip was focused on some swamps in Goshen, NY. indeed, the town I was born in. Lol

I can say with 100% certainty that I know every species of bird that nests in my urban hood, I sit outside all the time, it's my way, it's only a dozen compared to high density hot spots, my personal record is 134 species in one day

I believe it was Austin Rich that did a spring fill-in show featuring all bird related songs & titles. - only wished for more bird related sounds in the music.
I🫀 Mader’s “Loons” song from his worthy 1984 ‘tango-bidet’ album.
Also the fantastically fun 3rd Pyrolator album ‘Wunderland’ (1984) has lots of (imagined/simulated?) bird sounds on it.

i used to do a wildlife report on a wfmu gtds stream. i researched every call, and every sighting of every bird/mammal (sometimes insects). it's what i do when i hike. then again, my window looks over the CT River. (still jealous of your profession)
