Favoriting The Wiggle Room: Playlist from April 1, 2025 Favoriting

A different show every week! Rotating DJs include Jon Nelson's "Sheena 'ssembly Required" (Tape Manipulations, Digital Deconstructions and Turntable Creations),
MarkTime (vintage radio airchecks), and Krys O (aka Sister Krys - WFMU alumna 1985-1991, longtime Church of the Subgenius monk. Playing cinematic ephemera, schizoid weirdos, all styles served here). Plus: surprise guests galore. (illustration courtesy of https://www.jimflora.com/)

I suppose, I do TRY to bring new tunes to the station with every show..Or at least songs that haven't been played in a while....

I try to make each show cohesive, and unique. I'm trying to forgive the things I don't do well, and lean into my strengths. Maybe 2025 will be my year!

Good goal! I've been trying not to second guess myself so damn much, especially when it comes to music I decide to play. Watch out 2025!

↳ Song: "Repulsion" by "Fish Turned Human"
I feel like 1981 had a dis-proportionate number of excellent albums, compared to many other years. Might be an availability heuristic, but damn, that year sort of ruled, music-wise.

A lot of this stuff today is from the early 80s. Great stuff hidden away there..

That is the year that I graduated high school, went to study in Paris for six weeks, then started attending Upsala College where I learned about WFMU and started working at the station as a student. A watershed year for me along with all the awesome music.

I work with someone who doesn't watch movies, nor does she listen to music. She watches reality TV shows. I've mentioned this before how she once commented about having no interest in going to a museum or to watch a movie in black and white. I told her that I derived great joy from a Lillian Gish/D.W. Griffith film festival at MoMA with live piano accompaniment.
