Obscure musical gems, avant experimentation, and classics worth rehearing. A conurbation of Leslie speakers, timbales, plungers, arch-tops, tablas, and squeaky reeds. Black ties, pork pies, Cuban boots, Nudie suits, bobbysocks, turtlenecks, and high-heeled sneakers. Jazz is the north star but it’s a wide universe, so says The Laughing Clock.

I was listening to it then-wanted to listen to it a second time, let it sink in more before going to the next CD (I find if I just quckly move from CD to CD in these large CD sets, not that much of it sticks. It's sort of like studying, in a way. I often do a yoga routine in the morning, will play the same CD for a few days during it, then move on).

Likely this generalization can be easily debunked, but in my listening I've noted different European Free Jazz styles from different countries. Specifically, England and Germany tend to go all out, as intense as they can. Italy and The Netherlands tend to add more humor and local folk music to their Free outiings. Scandinavian countries also mine local folk music, and like lots of open space. Based (likely) on entirely too few samples, but still...
