He did, kinda! I think it was called "The Mojo Dojo" or something like that -- we got a VHS copy of it at WFMU like 25 years ago and it was one of the most fucked up things I've ever sat through. Most memorable scene was him hunting for Osama bin Laden with some bikini models, and then doing a flamenco guitar cover of a Savoy Brown song.

I woke up from a nap in time to miss The Nice version of America but in time for most of your subsequent back announce. As you continued from the movie night reports to speaking of some vision of Van Halen I was puzzled when you spoke of his something something a guitar. I've been listening since, trying to gear up for finishing my federal taxes.

As the sleep fog in my mind has cleared a bit I realized that when you were speaking of Van Halen I was picturing David Lee Roth and something something guitar though you were no doubt speaking of Eddie Van Halen something something guitar.

Realizing this, though an insignificant misunderstanding, but noting it took me so long to notice the source of my mental dissonance, I conclude that trying to finish taxes tonight is a fraught effort and instead I should just listen to your program and check on my music downloads.

I think I told this story on the air recently, but here it comes again: Maybe 20-ish years ago I was in London and hanging out with WFMU's Vicki Bennett (aka People Like Us). We had lunch and got daydrunk on wine in some weird neighborhood that was pretty far off the beaten path. We paid and wandered back towards the bus stop and we saw Charlie Fucking Watts come out of a store wearing a bowler hat, tan raincoat, and carrying two grocery bags.

We followed him home.

I know myself well enough to understand that anything I tried to say would've come out sounding lame.

David Bowie winked at me once, but it was through a window so I (fortunately) had no opportunity to reciprocate. Also, back when I worked for The Very Big Radio Station In NYC, I engineered an interview with Nigella Lawson. She smiled at me and I turned the color of the visible spectrum, much to the amusement of the rest of the engineering staff.
