Yes, in terms of accent Glasgow and Edinburgh are almost different countries, and neither are are like Inverness. I played a gig in Scotland years ago where the primarily language in the town was Gaelic, not English.

I read in Bruce Thomas's ( Elvis Costello's master bass player) memoir that he was roommates with Steve Howe. And he used always play the riff. that would become Long Distance Runaround in the house and it drove Bruce batty.
