	4:43pm Dean: Gawd, self-employment must be a tax nightmare. Some years ago, we hired a Household Employee (a nanny) to care for our kids. Sounds bougie, I know, but we both worked, because we both had to work. We're librarians, not among the 1%. The state required quarterly reports and payments, the IRS only annual, but I had to do withholding, pay disability, and so forth. But I gotta say, whenever I had to consult with EDD in California or IRS, their guidance was efficient and reliable. Tax agencies get a bad rap.

Sounds bougie, I know, but we both worked, because we both had to work. We're librarians, not among the 1%. The state required quarterly reports and payments, the IRS only annual, but I had to do withholding, pay disability, and so forth. But I gotta say, whenever I had to consult with EDD in California or IRS, their guidance was efficient and reliable. Tax agencies get a bad rap.
