Uncle Monk:

I'm watching through my bedroom window as a robin builds a nest on the light fixture above my apartment's little balcony door. For three days I thought she was doing a terrible job, most of the twigs, dog hair, and dead grass ending up on the deck. Then suddenly overnight the whole nest is there entire. She's working it into shape with her body and wings. This'll be the bright point of the day.

It's pretty interesting. They're pretty interesting. From somewhere in what Greil Marcus called 'the old weird America'. I miss people like that being around.

Ian:

Joe Boyd said in an interview a couple of years ago that a Dutch film had located Licorice living in a faith-based community in the US but backed off from trying to interview out of respect for her privacy. Richard Thompson said the same in his autobiography (possibly with Boyd as his source). But other source for this apart from Boyd.
