I saw The J. Geils Band in 1971 at The Santa Monica Civic the first day of Easter Vacation. They were in the middle of a bill with Johnny Winter and Little Feat, who no one had heard of yet. I remember some guy taking all his clothes off and charging the stage. We were all high as kites, but that guy took the cake!

Those are amazing! As an eleven year old my parents took me and my sister to San Francisco in 1966 for the first time, and then again the following year in The Summer of Love.

What it did was start a love affair with the city that continues to this day.

Line-up at JFK in Philly 1976(?): J Geils, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Peter Frampton. Saw this the summer after 8th grade, with three buddies. JFK stadium would hold 110,000 for concerts. Never forget Peter Wolf, skinny with a sequined jacket dancing so cool in front of a badass band

JFK Stadium was a blessing for a local like me. One ticket = 3 or 4 bands. I guess the large crowds made it pretty lucrative for the bands. Nowadays whenever somebody mentions a band I’m thinking or saying, “yeah, I saw them.” We saw everybody
