But wanted to ask first: do you find the quality of the D:O Radio stream/sound to be ok, or at least of a piece with other shows on the stream? (Not talking musical selections here, but simply the quality of the sound arriving at your end.) I am a little reluctant to mess around with things I don't fully understand, but am open to it if improvements could be made.

An expensive stereo line-driver that will deliver a 'noiseless' signal out from the source and deliver it onward via 'balanced' XLR lines (again no noise) to the mixer (that will introduce noise). Transient noise and signal distortion can be lessened in this way. I was trying to build something like this, but it's alchemy. That box also has its own gain pot...

Though the quartet bounces between genres, Clausen noted their captivation with the tradition of American shape-note music. Later popularized in New England, the shape-note tradition historically referred to a vocal practice of the mid-18th century in England. Shape-note tradition depicts written notes using varying shapes and arose to make learning music easier for singing groups. Much of the quartet’s original compositions take inspiration from aspects of shape-note singing, in addition to the traditional shape-note hymns they play.

I already got 60 tickets for dance shows next season. I'd like to add Trajal Harrell, but that's unlikely (few seats, no idea when booking opens and it will be gone in minutes)
Another batch coming in September, but my schedule is already so full I don't know if I can squeeze more there

Kimbrough was a pianist's pianist... which is not the kind of pianist I myself an drawn to.
He does have a trio record with Paul Motian ("Play") so you can't go wrong there.

I don't particular like his Herbie Nichols repertoire records either.
But your mileage my vary!

Allison has many, many records. The Early ones, with the Herbie Nichols Project, are very good. Riding the Nuclear Tiger is a good early one, as is Medicine Wheele (Kimbrough is part of these bands). More recently, Iif you like great sounding vinyl), Quiet Revolution is a trio, pretty, and I have Layers of the City, also vinyl, also a good record! (only the trio record is sans Kimbrough)
