Obscure musical gems, avant experimentation, and classics worth rehearing. A conurbation of Leslie speakers, timbales, plungers, arch-tops, tablas, and squeaky reeds. Black ties, pork pies, Cuban boots, Nudie suits, bobbysocks, turtlenecks, and high-heeled sneakers. Jazz is the north star but it’s a wide universe, so says The Laughing Clock.

Part of the overall appeal of the original Dogon A.D., I’m realizing, is its very dry, very crisp production. This sounds so different (for any number of reasons, I suppose).

My classical filing is audiophile insanity-I always had difficulty with filing by composer or performer, and albums that performers did pieces by more than one composer really made me crazy. There are some classial labels that are sought after by audiophiles (RCA Living Stereo "Shady Dogs", Mercury Living Stereo (releases from the early 60s mostly), and I came into.a lot of them in a short time, so I filed by label/catalog #. RCA LSC-2271, anyone?

Does it say the type of synthesizer? That would make the most difference in how it was "performed" or as they say in the game: "realized".

↳ doctorjazz @7:35
I'm not sure what they sell for now, but 30 years ago many RCA Shady Dogs sold for $100-150. (that's not so much these days, with new vinyl prives up there, especially audiophile reissues...)

when I worked in record store in the 70s, the majority of the "classical" records were in shelves on the wall in Label and release number. Then there was a Phonolog catalogue [ en.wikipedia.org... ] and many copies of the Schwann catalogues [ en.wikipedia.org... ] available for customer browsing or clerk assisted finding. I may still have a Schwann or two but think I finally dumped my personal Phonolog. It hadn't been updated since 1977

Sclavis is a big figure in Europe (ECM recordings, among others). I find him a bit too European for my taste, but @doctorj likes him, if I remember. (For those keeping score.)

By association, please allow me to opine that Willem Breuker plays a mean clarinet.

Did my catch up listen-nice clarinet set! Fan of Giuiffre, absolutely adore Pee Wee (I searched for that album, read that there's only 1 track with the 2 of them. I have the Clarinet Summit album, dug it a lot when it came out, nice to hear it again.
Thanks DJ Peter!
