Order and disorder in a freeform haze of terribly-played guitars, shorted-out electronics, found audio detritus, strange sounds from strange lands all around. Psych-punk-junk, collage, even pop. Lots of in-studio live performances to boot.

August 16, 2005: w/ live set from THE NEW PORNOGRAPHERS
The pop of Vancouver's New Pornographers has been revered in WFMU's corridors ever since the group's debut back in 2000, even making noise creeps like Brian who dwell in a black pool of goo armed with Brainbombs records perk up and tap along. Picture liberal doses of hooks and sounds evocative of Eno, ELO, Sparks, Wings, Tubeway Army, and so many more coupled with complex yet totally accessible pop song structures. The line-up has fluctuated over the past tours, and this time out it's Carl Newman, Todd Fancey, John Collins, Blaine Thurier, Kurt Dahle and the debut of Carl's niece Kathryn Calder (making her first radio appearance and second ever live performance with the band!) They join Brian today to play some old tunes and some brand new ones from their forthcoming album Twin Cinema, out on Matador August 23rd.
