Order and disorder in a freeform haze of terribly-played guitars, shorted-out electronics, found audio detritus, strange sounds from strange lands all around. Psych-punk-junk, collage, even pop. Lots of in-studio live performances to boot.

Steve Mackay & the Blue Prostitutes | Live on WFMU | Recorded by Jason LaFarge | Steve Mackay may be best known as the sax blaster on the Funhouse record; for the last four years he's continued to bring Iggy and the Stooges' reunion shows to a second-half frenzy, still blazing on the same tenor he used back in 1970. Steve's also been deeply involved with assorted experimental and improvised units worldwide within the Radon label collective; today he returns to Brian's show fronting the Blue Prostitutes, made up of Steve with Vinnie Paternostro (Temple of Bon Matin): sax, Aaron Moore (Volcano the Bear): Drums and trumpet, Jason LaFarge: Bass, Sam Lohman: Drums, J. Reeve: Keys/noise. Tracks today: Fractured Cogs, Lament, I Try Not To Think of Elephants, Song for Baghdad, A Complete Skull, Speed Turning Light. More info: My Space for Steve, My Space for Iggy and the Stooges. MANY thanks to Steve, the band, and especially Vinnie, Jason and Seizures Palace for making this happen. | 1:30:01 (Pop-up) | |
