This month we present three segments recorded at the 2007 WOMEX world music convention in Sevilla, Spain. Curiously, all three involve artists from cold northerly climes.
For this week's first installment, Rob shares a succulent Spanish lunch with the charismatic young Inuit singer Tanya Tagaq. Tanya hails from Nunavut in arctic Canada. She has morphed traditional Inuit throat-singing into her own wildly dynamic, very un-traditional vocal style.
Tanya, who has collaborated with Bjork as well as the Kronos Quartet, showcased with her own ensemble at WOMEX and she'll be in New York at the BAM Cafe in March.
