This show opens with a few new releases; then we're joined by vocalist Lorin Sklamberg of
the Klezmatics and The
Zmiros Project. Lorin introduces the group and plays some selections from its new cd. Later in the show he dons his guest-dj chapeau and spins some fun and silly Jewish music in tune with the festive Jewish holiday of Purim, which arrives this week.
The Zmiros Project performs, well, zmiros - a type of Jewish sabbath song. For more information about the tradition and the Zmiros Project cd, visit http://www.traditionalcrossroads.com. Traditional Crossroads is an independent record label that produced this cd and many other recordings of traditional music.
The Zmiros Project will be appearing on Sunday March 24 at Joe's Pub at the Public Theater, 425 Lafayette St near Astor Place in lower Manhattan.
