Love Wildgirl. Arrived in NYC in 80s. Found FMU, barely receiving the signal in NYC aided by my metal darkroom sink and lots of wire hangers. Was part of the Performance scene...know people she is talking about...Listened so often in the dark. Loved Paula Gordon's show very late night...and Wildgirl my first favorite cool DJ after leaving the burbs.

SonOfElvis:

Wildgirl took my radio virginity away in 87'. She was gentle and considerate, in a tough love kind of way.

Bob:

My favorite reminiscence was one time in the middle of here usual set, Wildgirl slipped in a track from "The Weavers at Carnegie Hall." I called at once and said, "You are about the last DJ on FMU I expected to play the Weavers." She said, "What do you think I listened to growing up?" and that she just played it for herself, never expecting anyone to react or notice. That made two of us that were surprised: me that she played it; she that someone called.

She told me it was still in print. I went right out and got three copies: one for my then girlfriend, one for a colleague from grade school, now a music professional, who enticed me into bluegrass and leftist-oriented folk. I kept the third.

Phast Phreddie the Boogaloo Omnibus:

Michael, I wanted to mention the first time I became aware of Wildgirl during our Decedent Activity Report, but I rushed myself and forgot.

Some time after I moved to Brooklyn in 1992, I went to a Fleshtones concert at the Polish National Home—now known as The Warsaw—and it turned out to be a Wildgirl Go-Go Rama. The night was one of the most fun concert experiences I’ve had. The night had been planned out like a carnival with go-go dancers and The Fleshtones were great, of course. I started tuning in her show soon after.

It’s good to hear that Wildgirl is alive and well.

Hey from Iowa! Just woke up Ericka. This is a first for me! It's so good to hear from Rich yesterday you went to see the Stooges. I'm laid up with back out today so will be listening. All my love Ericka!
If Leah Ryan was alive I know she'd love your jams! If I was to say anything to NYC it would be "I Love You Leah Ryan!" from your street musician love in Iowa City!
