Listener comments!

  8:05pm
Nick:

Hey Pseu, fantastic start. Spring Awakening was great. Okay play some Glen Campbell!
  8:06pm
Droll:

Oooohhh! Broadway Cast is so candied they make my teeth hurt! Yummm... (Sloan who?)
  8:28pm
john:

Hooray, as ever, for jangly harmonyful goodness! Sadly, only going to get half the show tonight live as I'm off to produce my own, so you'll have to live without intermittently marginally amusing comments and dating disaster stories for a week.
  8:28pm
Ismael:

speaking of good pop, d'you keep any Toothpaste 2000? I think they're now called Mas Rapido.
  8:31pm
bartleby:

I think Ben Franklin played glass harmonica
  8:33pm
john:

Howard Da Silva did indeed play Benjamin Franklin in 1776, and a pre-White Shadow Ken Howard as Thomas Jefferson. Oh, and John Adams was a pre-voice-of-Hasselhoff's-car-in-Knight-Rider William Daniels. Just doesn't get better than that. I feel so useful.
  8:39pm
pseu:

thanks john - i'm powdering my wig now.
  8:40pm
john:

glad to hear it's not your actual hair!
  8:42pm
sugarwolf:

1776 also had a pre-Eight is Enough Betty Buckley.
  8:47pm
bartleby:

Got through the past 2 weeks without getting laid off.
21 people seceded, quit or were let go at my work. I think it's because I am the only one who knows how to work the non-feeder, book copier. Oh, and also I never come in with the shakes.
  8:48pm
pseu:

betty was also the star of "cats"...she puts the broad in broadway!
  8:49pm
john:

has anyone ever commented on the utter perfection of micky dolenz' voice for psych-pop? I direct you to the original of this or better still Porpoise Song.
  8:52pm
Droll:

John, I think Tiger Beat did a story on Mickey's voice in the Kristy McNichol "Go For It!" issue. I wish I saved that one, now...
  8:52pm
john:

Both, I should have added, penned by those masters of psychedelia, Goffin and King.
  9:09pm
bartleby:

All about the Benjamins--

  9:11pm
john:

This sort of sounds like Spacemen 3 without the drugs.
  9:14pm
sugarwolf:

There was an article in the local paper the other day about ATP, mainly about how no one in the county knew it was going on.
  9:14pm
Ike:

Woah, FMU is going to broadcast the ATP performances of Low, Lightning Bolt, Harmonia, and Growing et al.?! That's amazing. I am agape. I'm going hiking on the 20th, so I hope I don't miss too much of it. If Cragsmoor is in the 90.1 signal range then I'll hike with my old FM Walkman. (Heck I could amost see the concert from there.)
  9:16pm
pseu:

permisssion pending on some of 'em...
  9:20pm
Ike:

The language on the front page is confusing: It lists those bands and talks about permission pending but then says, "But as you can see above, we've worked out things with a mighty healthy chunk of the weekend's unbelievable roster." I assume they mean permission is pending with the REST of the weekend's bands, not the ones listed. Or does it? It's a bit vague.
  9:23pm
sf spike:

it's my understanding the bands listed are the ones that have given permission to be broadcast live....
  9:23pm
pseu:

c'mon Ike. Just wait for more info. This is exciting so we need to announce it -- only a week ahead of time!
  9:32pm
john:

dammit, i can't leave til you play a song i don't like--at the very least i can't go during the essex green!
  9:34pm
Ike:

I didn't mean to be impatient. I'm just excited. Plus, the editor in me doesn't ever shut up. Also, I've got lots of 120 mph winds and a giant calm eye swirling around inside me, and the Gulf of Mexico is nice and warm, so I'm all revved up.
  9:36pm
pseu:

john will be leaving now...
  9:54pm
Ike:

Touche.
  9:55pm
mo:

joining the fray, lady. viva la pseu!
  9:57pm
Droll:

Where's Laurie? Too depressed to comment? Laurie, we miss you!
  10:09pm
Droll:

Wow, this Mark Hudson tune sounds like Jeff Lynne producing the first Paul McCartney/Wings record. Uncanny.
  10:09pm
pseu:

hey 'mo! How's your Sarah Palin girdle tonight?
  10:10pm
mo:

tight, lady, tight.
  10:24pm
SF Spike:

Thanks for playing Rachel! A friend of mine went to school with her in Akron, he remembers her singing at a school assembly....
  10:51pm
evan:

yet another great show, pseu. digging it now. will def archive it again later.
  10:57pm
pseu:

hi efd!! thanks for checking this out!
xoxo

Vike:

I was Captkosmos at my radio station. I know what it takes to radio, a bit. The day after the first anniversary of my mother's death on, 9/11,last Friday on 9/12, I accidentally tuned into you, reading announcements. I was smitten and gobsmacked, smirking and thunderclapped, equal times totally entertained or totally bored. You took me from the great heights of yellin "yes!!" to the dust basement of "I wonder what else is on?" At times, I was howling with laughter - you were strange, wandering, wry, wistful, bored, sullen and overdrawn, at times cagey and wirey and steeled against the mettle of your own capacity. Okay I'm full of nonsense but so were you at times and I was very seriously digging your insanity. I'm even digging how you spell your name - I always wondered where all the creativity and the fun in the world went - now I know - your show sucked ...it all up!! Continue the groove -more Hudson brothers! Throw in Adrian Belew, MeShell NDegeocello, Nada Surf and Issa!!
  9:44pm
PBK:

For "Mercy" -wow. Thanks.
