HEY BETHANY
  10:24pm
luis:

hi bethany, lovely tunes. whatever you lack in chess-playing, you more than make up in moving records.
but please tell us/me: what's the background music playing now (after the first set)? really really pretty...thanks!
  10:29pm
bethany:

Hello Luis,
The background music for that last mic break is by Brian Eno, "Deep Blue Day" Glad you are enjoying!
  10:30pm
luis:

thanks very much!

Raymond Chandler: "Chess is the most elaborate waste of human intelligence outside of an advertising agency."

bartelby:

it's funny you mention chess. I actually picked up a book on chess after I left the JACK quartet show on Wednesday. I know the rules but lose every time. More interesting than chess, I think, is Go (Wei-Chi) in which I also lose every time, let a lone when I've ventured up to the NY go club by Hunter college, I can't even say the word "win" or even adjacent words in dictionaries with more than a 20% cognate rate with english, and/or japanese when I try playing those guys. Anyhow I am hoping to get better at chess, I may fail.

chinese checkers might be mentioned too (oh snap someone just did). that game is all sorts of mind melting crazy. .
  10:43pm
Plinky:

i play scrabble (on facebook)
  10:51pm
bethany:

"Pente" is the Parker Brothers version of GO. It's much more simple and quite a lot of fun to play. Problem is: no one knows the game. I try to introduce people to it, but I'm at odds...I know the game too well to pretend to lose and no one wants to play a a bully. (sigh)
  10:54pm
huieely:

elaborate and logical nonetheless
  10:55pm
Willy Voet:

How can the rules of Go be any simpler?
  10:57pm
bethany:

I suppose the phrase "less involved" is better suited than simple in comparison. You all saw the film Pi, right?

ranjit:

I lost at tic-tac-toe to an animated duck

john:

less embarrassing than losing to a live one!
  11:19pm
huieely:

doesn't someone's head explode/get chopped off in that one (pi)? what with all the chesskers
  11:28pm
ranjit:

not nearly enough pipe organ on the radio these days!

I have not heard this in years, Great!

Lenny:

...I listen in on your past show as usual.....good show. And I heard that the Stochastic Hit Parade "supports" Obama-thats great and very refreshing to hear! I am a artist[visual artist] and a afro American too, and being and living in the "south" it is very painful at times. I mean just take a close look at the election polls concerning the past presidential race. I am from Louisiana[the north -south] area and by looking at the polls of the last election some very negative things are still "in-grained" in people's heart here!/Lenny
