  9:35am

  9:43am
bzul:

Ten degrees for my bike ride this morning, but the posters are pushing temps to the feeevah zone.
  9:45am
dc pat:

I have these booty things that go over my bike shoes but they make my feet look huge--like a duck. So my feet were cold this morning.
  9:45am
annie:

i feel your pain pat... everytime i pick up a damn paper... bad enough regarding the research i'm involved in. just had a "discussion" with SO about big box stores and how they rob economy from local shops.. but it's okay cause the food is cheap.. crappy defense to be sure..
  9:46am
Matthew:

I want more of those surreal "theory of everything" podcasts you did years ago ... like the series where you talk with the guy from DC who keeps claiming wild conspiracy related parties he's been to.

Great set so far, btw.
  9:46am
JCityJensen:

Awesome Buck Ownes - thanks benjamen!
  9:57am
sahak:

haha
  10:03am
Bad Ronald:

Chilly morn e'ryone! Love the femme fatale theme of the movie posters. Too bad the artwork for the "teeth" poster doesn't match the motif!
  10:04am
dc pat:

I just wonder if the economic shite we're having is going to shake up things enough to bring back small, local shops, or kill off everything but online shops, or just solidify the position of the big box stores.
  10:04am
GP:

Good morning all. Benjamin, Did you get some money for the new Manhattan tower? If you have already covered this earlier...disregard..in late today...had to drive the school bus.
  10:06am
sahak:

  10:13am
dc pat:

I want to see all these movies.
  10:14am
Nick the Bard:

::shakes fist in the direction of the mall::
  10:25am
Ike:

Is anyone else hearing a high-pitched buzz on the FM signal lately? Not on the webcast, just on FM. I mainly hear it when using headphones, but not on other statinos, just FMU, so I don't think it's that particular Walkman.

DC Pat, to answer your question: sales at Walmart are up.
  10:28am
annie:

oh, pat. i pray for the first and a return to really local economy.. no avocadoes in winter... seasonal fare only... hard choices, but safe and economically austere..
  10:30am
t-bone:

i don't think hefner played before tuxedomoon - was that mistake?
  10:31am
bw:

it was just an instrumental loop there t-bone..

set break intbetween those two tracks
  10:32am
?:

  10:34am

  10:37am
C:

  10:40am
bw:

that crazy dreams song had a gary numan riff in it.. which one?
  10:44am
Ike:

This show is amazing!

Annie, don't get me started on avocados. Why so expensive? Is there still U.S. avocado farmer protectionism driving up the cost? If so, then why? Shouldn't NAFTA put a stop to that? If not then why do we get stuck with the drawbacks of these trade agreements, but none of the benefits? And sure, as long as we aren't using renewable energy, we should return to a local economy with seasonal fare. But ideally we'd have 100% solar-powered trucks bringing us 35-cent avocados from Mexico in the winter.
  10:45am
bw:

i figured it out... 30secs left to guess!
  10:46am
bw:

well.. maybe its just similar.. now I have to play the damn song
  10:47am
treadstone:

The Supreme Court has turned down an emergency appeal from a New Jersey man who says President-elect Barack Obama is ineligible to be president because he was a British subject at birth.
  10:50am
Mac:

Bit of a "Magazine " flavor here, eh?
  10:50am
fishmonkeystew:

mmmmmm, avocados! And asparagus. Tasty yet expensive veggies.
  10:54am
annie:

wow, where to start? .........
tha obama thing has been fermenting since the erection, oh i mean the election. some grass-roots thing, they apparently accuse him of being foreign-born.. avocadoes!!! ahhh, wondrous foodstuff. ike, your comments. agri-business will hold the prices up most of the time as long as they can.
http://www.leopold.iastate.edu/resources/fruitveg/fruitveg.php
  10:56am
annie:

earlier this spring, we went through a very bad "organic" avocado spurt of fruits that went bad and black within 48 hours of delivery.. threw out four cases of avoes and then stopped buying them. they cost about a dollar and most of them are grown in mexico..
  10:56am
Doug from DC:

If you live near any of the asian market chains, vegetables are unbelievably cheap there. Including cheap avocados, and bags or basil for only a buck fifty.
  10:57am
GP:

mmmm. Melamine!
  10:58am
Bruce:

I lived in a Chicago neighborhood and got my veggies really cheap. No such luck here in D.C. I wouldn't mind, but I have bad luck choosing quality avocadoes.
  10:58am
annie:

word doug, many people actually drive to albany to shop the asian markets and ethnic stores. the delivery systems are so much more efficient .. have to admit it, food is cheaper in big cities, but at what cost to the environment in the long run..?
  10:59am
annie:

and i'll take organic malamine anyday... ;)
  11:06am
GP:

mmmmm.Free range Malamine!
  11:08am
cb:

The combination of the music and the posters is nearly too hot to handle. You are overloading my circuits bw!
  11:11am
annie:

  11:13am
Josh:

Yeah! Miami rock!!
  11:14am

  11:30am

I just looked at TCM's website and "Brute Force" is on this month's schedule. Also, tomorrow night's guest programmer is Frank Miller!
  11:31am
Ted:

Oops, that's Wednesday that Frank Miller is on.
  11:34am
dc pat:

TCM is the ONLY thing I watch on TV. I don't care what's on--s'long as it's black and white.
  11:34am
Santa Bard:

I'll sit around the station if need be. I'm not letting this Santa costume go to waste...
  11:34am
Ike:

Yeah the Asian markets have really cheap fruits and veggies but sometimes the quality is low. Particularly the tasteless cardboard Chinese garlic. I want good strong local garlic for less than $4 or $5/lb. Some farmers in Union Square want $10/lb! Eek!

Stingy, I can't understand a thing you're saying. Are you on Klonopin RIGHT NOW? That would explain the illegible posts. Or did you simply never pay attention in English class?
  11:36am
annie:

ike, that's outrageous, the price for garlic.. that's exploitation... for shame!!! you can easily find it for 7 or less upstate... time to grow your own, eh?
  11:38am
stingy d:

i am current;y under the imfluence of klonopin and lalso i am a high school dro p ut so its a doubl ewhamy

  11:42am
Ike:

Isn't growing garlic pretty hard? Also I live in an apt., so no back yard. Actually I live in NJ (work in NYC) but no farmer's markets within easy reach in NJ.
  11:42am
annie...:

it's easy.. you might even be able to get away with planting some even now...
  11:45am
Bad Ronald:

I understood free PBRs btwn 7&9 at the knitting factory tonight!
  11:46am
Doug in DC:

Stingy, you need some adderall to bring yrself back up now.
  11:46am
dc pat:

that's the only way I'd drink PBR
  11:47am
stingy d:

  11:50am
Sean Daily:

Not even close to first comment! Woo hoo!
  11:52am
Bad Ronald:

Did you finally get the Vermont Country Store to give you the ax Stingy?
  11:55am
Mon. Dane:

He tempted them with ripe tracks!
He hit them hard with mesmerizing negativity WITHOUT SHAME!
Helpless listerns couldn't deny the attraction...couldn't resist the DJ stalking the daytime danger-zone...a man whose true mistress was an untamed muscal appetite, a guy who carnked up the heat on the coldest days with free-form lawlessness!
...Tearing away the prim dress of drab playlists, determined to leave nothing out of his wide-open conceptual embrace!
...Driven in his unbridled pursuit of a theory, andt this was a theory of....EVERYTHING!!!

This was " _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ !"
  11:56am
