The Conet project is the creepiest recording of the 20th century. I can't listen to this for more than a few minutes without getting weirded out.
  5:36pm
rumpltforeskin:

Yeah - the Conet project is fantastic- as art, as social commentary, as ear candy
  5:38pm
rumpltforeskin:

Does Bowtie also have songs about, oh, Dick Tracy, Prince Valiant, Mark Trail, and Mary Worth???

I am now obsessed with the Conet Project.

"The project's name comes from a mishearing of the Czech word konec, or 'end,' which marks the end of transmissions on the Czech numbers station."
  5:48pm
jan:

I miss Charlie Lewis, but I found out he does a show in Vermont. He posts his playlists here (as well as mp3s of the shows for a limited time): http://beingslowlynowhere.typepad.com/ Definitely worth checking out.
  6:12pm
Gordon:

Maybe you should run for office in Detroit!
  9:45am
Howling Rabbit:

I think the reason Charlatans UK are referred to that way is to differentiate them from the not-too-well-known, but influential, The Charlatans, one of the first "psychedelic" bands from San Francisco in the mid-60s.
