  9:08am
pat radio:

  9:09am
annie:

no jason, i was just being presidential..hey iowa city, i almost went there last week for a seminar.
  9:11am
Andy B:

Well, it's been cold, and it's icy this morning, so you might be better off in possibly warmer climes. Off to work. Happy Tuesday to all.
  9:12am
gary Kahn:

that Catatonic Youth song rocked! great way to start the day. it's all downhill from here.
  9:20am
paulthepostman:

Good morning, afternoon and evening Jason and posters!
  9:21am
Curious:

Is there a Fleetwood Mac of Death Metal? Maybe a Boz Scaggs of Death Metal? Just asking.
  9:21am
annie:

hi PTP>
  9:23am
paulthepostman:

Hi annie, how's being a nice citizen to the troll lady who lives at the bottom of the hill going?!
  9:25am
annie:

actually, i grok her in some way. i had a great chat w/her hubby. she is within her rights, but still intransigent in her postition. bummer, but what it is.. :)
  9:26am
annie:

i am determined to understand her, then get her to dig me as well..
  9:26am
paulthepostman:

yeah, cool.
  9:27am
annie:

time will tell, and perhaps she will thaw along with winter..
  9:31am
Patrick:

hey jason, im sure you get this question all the time, but what is the sample from in your bed music?

  9:32am
panda123:

DJ Speaks is my favorite! Good morning!
  9:37am
paulthepostman:

Well annie, 8 hours of slog is behind me!
Parents eve t'nite with Tom my 16yr old. He's a cool musician/artist. I think 16 years of gentle/firm nurturing is starting to pay off...notwithstanding several expulsions from several schools along the way!
  9:38am
annie:

aahhh, i smell a free-thinker!! way to go pop! what are his fave bands?
  9:44am
paulthepostman:

Well, he likes lyrics, you know annie...Dylans 'Hurricane', thru to dub reggae and all stuff that goes well with a little herb stalk, yeah, he's def a free thinker!
  9:47am
annie:

at 16, that's not bad at all.. the hardest part of parenting is the unconditional love part. herb stalk is only bad if it is controlling. hope the meeting goes well tonight. i for one hate a formal programmed education where we are taught what to think rather than thinking for ourselves.. i was unhappy when mine wanted to stay in school as opposed to home-schooling; he turned out great even though..
  9:52am
dc pat:

3 pats today...something must be done.
  9:54am
paulthepostman:

Annie, I have 3 from two previous long relationships: Joanna is 24 and a theatre designer (has just spent a year with The Royal Shakespeare Co.) Jack is 21 and is taking a degree up in Leeds in 'How to spend Foreign Aid Wisely in the Developing World (he wants to travel)! And there you have it; I'm getting younger..!
  9:54am
annie:

hi pat #3; you gonna get warm temps today, as well?
  9:56am
paulthepostman:

3 Pats, Pat?
  9:56am
anie:

PTP. you surely have done well, my son. steer him to the website wiserearth.org. many great net-working opportunities there. (and i've created a group, too. )
  9:57am
dc pat:

yeah, it's warming up. Funny story: I was fixin' to go see Ray Davies last night when the spouse calls and says the heat isn't working. I call the guy I was going to see Ray with and HIS heat isn't working. I spend a while messin' around and find out the pilot light is out. I light it and then go over to guy's house and HIS pilot light is out! What do you think of that?
  9:59am
annie:

it's the arctic winds, pat in DC. one fell swoop..
  9:59am
paulthepostman:

Will do Annie, thanks. We are all meeting up for Xmas.
Yeah, its the winds.
  10:00am
annie:

you will enjoy it. and it wouldn't surprise me at all if your kids and mine knew each other in an offhand way..
  10:02am
dc pat:

I think it's Ray Davies
  10:03am
annie:

yeah, he blew 'em away. it was the pre-show show. did you make it to the show?
  10:05am
dc pat:

no, when we were done fixing things we got too comfortable w/ some tequila and decided to stay put. Lame, I know.
  10:06am
paulthepostman:

Fortunately my boiler is facing downwind from prevailing.
Pity bout missing Ray, Pat...
Yeah Annie, I feel that too about the children,
  10:07am
paulthepostman:

Domesticity Rules!
  10:08am
annie:

pat, what fun that must have been. PTP- empty nest is a funny thing...
  10:09am
paulthepostman:

$40 is a lot of dosh to come back to a cooold house Pat!
  10:11am
annie:

funny, i'm sitting here thinking: this music has been wonderful, really nice.. fits in with the mood..
  10:11am
paulthepostman:

Funny is one explanation of it Annie!
  10:12am
dc pat:

right you are ptp, plus I must have seen the Kinks about 5 times in the 70's, 80's...
annie: kind of gives you a better sense of reality sitting around the radiator waiting to see if it heats up, throwing back fire water.
  10:13am
annie:

right out of jack london or farley mowat..
  10:14am
paulthepostman:

Washed thru 'n over me in a not unpleasant way too.
  10:15am
annie:

yeah, like it belonged there. .. symbiosis is great!
  10:17am
Vladimir:

Hey, first time listener here. What are you playing behind your voice?
  10:17am
annie:

and to some extent, music is far more intoxicating than any drug.
  10:18am
paulthepostman:

Jason, your wish is our enslavement!
  10:21am
Bruce from Capitol Hill:

Good morning all. Great show Jason!
  10:24am
Jason:

the background music is a loop of the opening riff to Faust - Just A Second (Starts LIke That) from Faust IV
  10:28am
bzul:

Heard this note in the news this morning (although it's a month old): Hearing music you like expands diameter of blood vessels. Hearing unfavored music narrows 'em.
Feeling wide now.
  10:29am
dc pat:

Gaad, no wonder I'm so unhealthy...
  10:30am
annie:

you've heard of the water crystal experiment, right? music has definite effects on water crytals....
  10:33am
annie:

http://www.life-enthusiast.com/twilight/research_emoto.htm
  10:36am
annie:

and cows!! they love radio, who'd a thunk?
  10:38am
annie:

the hell with bovine growth hormone, give em mozart..
  10:41am
dc pat:

they're still going to consume too much water and fart too much.
  10:43am
annie:

i know some dairy famers who are reverting back the the cyclical way of herding. let em dry out for winter and freshen em again in the spring.. i've been blessed to know farmers who still range their cattle in winter out on the fields..
  10:45am
annie:

more grass, less gas...
more grain, more pain.
  10:48am
DJ Truth or Dairy:

Moozart...?
Beefhoofen?
Cannonball Udderly?
Cowsills!
Bossy Nova!
  10:48am
dc pat:

right, we should eat the grain. good to hear.
  10:49am
annie:

see, it's why i hang out here.... :)
  10:49am
paulthepostman:

My mother used to sing to 'em while milking 'em!!!
  10:56am
bzul:

I don't drink the milk, but be interestin' to taste test ice-cream from different cows that got Tuvan throat-singing vs. Bach vs. Eartha Kitt vs. Osmonds vs. Weather Report....
  10:57am
annie:

word up bzul, and i know the people that can do that!!! you talkin raw milk right?
  11:06am
bzul:

No doubt the homogenumbing and pasteurwhacking would alter or cancel flavor conjured by the barn playlist. I'd sample ice cream from the raw product for an experiment in musical influence.
  11:06am
Parq:

Most cows that I've seen get commercial C&W or cheesy white gospel ("praise music", as they now call it). Sigh.
  11:09am
annie:

i'll get right on that bzul. them must be mid=western type cows eh parq?
  11:10am
bzul:

That milk'd be extry EXTRY white. Need a cow whisperer to take requests and make mixtapes. What do we want?Autonomous programming for cows. When do we want it? NOW!
  11:11am
annie:

give em all ipods.
  11:12am
Parq:

And that doesn't even take into account the ones who get no music at all, just right-wing-rant radio.
  11:14am
annie:

that would be the sour-milk part of the production.
  11:14am
GP:

Busy day today..checkin in late, good morning all.
  11:16am
north guinea hills:

where have i been?
  11:16am
bzul:

And anyone asking the stock if they want more cowbell should be fined and sentenced to stall-mucking community service.
  11:17am
Parq:

Exactly, Annische. Milk tastes like crankcase drippings? Bossie was subjected to Hannity.
  11:19am
annie:

when we were kids, we would walk up the hill each AM and get the milk from the first milking for breakfast. the farmer had the local pop station on.. and each cow knew exactly where her stall was.
  11:22am
bzul:

Major childhood threat from Dad was that we would move to a farm and have to rise at five for milking. I was afraid -- of 5:00 AM waking and working, not of cows.
  11:23am
Parq:

Harry should get an Uzi and take out the shipping department.
  11:24am
Parq:

Bz, we had the opposite situation. Five-year-old me thought it would be fun to live on a farm, but Mom grew up on one during the dustbowl era and knew better.
  11:24am
annie:

i so totally feel your pain bzul.
  11:25am
paulthepostman:

5.00 am, don't remind me bzul!
  11:26am
dc pat:

I still want to live on a farm but am stuck...
  11:26am
annie:

all five kids at this one farm i know are ready to fly the coop.. and not the henhouse... conversely, i know alot of young people who were raised on farms and went back to that simple life when they grew up. just not so many head of cattle..
  11:27am
north guinea hills:

it's been nair a half a fortyear since i've heard azusa plane, now i remember how much i dig them!
  11:28am
annie:

this music is doing some wonderful things to my brain
  11:35am
paulthepostman:

32k is almost a whole minute behind 128k here!
  11:36am
GP:

Program I heard on NPR..talked about a "farm internship" for people who hook up with farmers willing to train the individual in the ways of the farm. Eventually you will get the farm as yours. This is for farmers who have no kin to pass the farm to. Unfortunately most people who have done it don't stay with it...it is VERY hard work.
  11:36am
dc pat:

yeah, I always listen to 32k and I feel like I'm a step behind everyone else.
  11:38am
GP:

Yeah for 20K! But 20k of FMU is better than 128k of anything else!
  11:39am
Raf:

What a strange song that was.
  11:41am
annie:

GP- there is a farm./restaurant near me that is taking on up to 5 interns to teach them the nitty gritty. i think it's a great idea.. getting back to basics, it seems..
  11:45am
Ryan:

YO! Will you play the Dan Deacon side of the new split 7" he's got out? Some seriously funny / awesome stuff on there! I'd love to hear it.
  11:45am
?:

Also using Windows stream this week on substitute machine instead of 128K on my troubled regular work station.
Ahoy, how are things there 60 seconds in the future? Economy turned around?
  11:46am
GP:

That is cool Annie. My cousin works for Heifer International doing their organic farm project. She also has students that work with her. It s amazing that so many kids think their food comes from a grocery store or a fast food restaurant and can't see beyond that.

Jason: 2nd for Dan Deacon!
  11:46am
annie:

i'm plunked happily in my 128k stream.. hardly ever lets me down
  11:47am
paulthepostman:

? - several times!
  11:48am
Tony Escalante:

Geez. I figured Liz Berg was the master droner at the station. This Jason fellow's gonna give her a run for her money.
  11:49am
paulthepostman:

My ears are not what they used to be but 128 gives me everything I need.
  11:49am
Jason:

Not sure what you mean by droner but thanks Tony Escalante
  11:51am
Raf:

I was just listening to Franco yesterday! What a champ, that guy.
  11:51am
risky!:

stoner droner
  11:52am
annie:

i'd have the headphones on, but i have to listen for that once-a-year visit from the valley folk.. woohoo i get to see my kid this week, i just remembered!!
  11:54am
paulthepostman:

Is that right, Jason?
  11:55am
risky!:

banned in NJ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  11:56am
Jason:

wait whuut?
  12:00pm
Ike:

Nice sounds. In particular, that Azusa Plane really helped put me in a zone so I could desperately race to catch up on work.
  12:05pm
Jason:

Thanks Ike! Thanks for listening and chiming in on the cheap talk!
