Listener comments!

  11:14pm
Laurie:

Hi, Evan!

For those who haven't heard yet, Glenn Danzig is replacing Bret and his Wig as the... prize? I guess! Anyway, he's doing the next season of Rock of Love. Rejoice, fiends!
  11:15pm
cheri:

  11:17pm
efd:

  11:22pm

Hey Evan! Awesome Bee Gees cover. Whole album is actually really good, not just the EP
  11:22pm
Laurie:

Thanks, Evan!
  11:27pm
C:

  11:30pm
Terre T:

Cripes...Mood 6!
  11:40pm
cheri:

evan--have you got any blossom dearie tunes??
  11:42pm
john:

As long as we're talking about that Bee Gees tribute, and I fully realize I'm the only one who is, Phil Seymour's version of The First Mistake I Ever Made is amazing. Back to live action.
  11:42pm
efd:

nope, I do not.

Hi Terre! and hi, C!
  11:46pm
cheri:

efd you ever watch family guy?? if so what do you think of the show?? i think it's funny as hell,,
  11:52pm
Terre T:

U GOTTA put that Mood 6 cut on yr 2009 premium, bro! Also hi Laurie---congrats on yr Big Win on The Best Show(sorry i dint reply on my Comments section this past Sat--i was goin nutz --u HAVE NO IDEA-acck!)
  11:55pm
Laurie:

Thanks, Terre! That Paul Collins Beat/Gentleman Jesse show was a winner! I can't wait to see Gentleman Jesse next month. Yay!
  11:55pm
efd:

TT, I'm trying to decide between that song or "Just Like A Dream," but I think it's safe to say there will be a Mood 6 trrack on there for sure.
Cheri, I don't really watch Family Guy.
  11:59pm
cheri:

well i'm beat,,i'm outa here,,,evan,,thnx see ya next week,,,
  12:02am
Marc:

can't wait for this year's premium. The last one is still a favourite to funk to when doing housework
  12:03am
john:

Just Like A Dream was also great! Opening track on that super cool nu-psych comp A Splash Of Colour in what, 81 or something? Barracudas and The Times on that too. Worth digging out. I'm done now. Srsly.
  12:08am
Michael From the Left Coast:

I go out one night and I miss Kristian Hoffman doing the Bee Gees! Damn
  12:15am
efd:

let that be a lesson to you, Michael!

John, yep, that is a great comp. Marc, I hope this year's premium lives up to your expectations!
  12:32am
Jessica:

OMG, that reminds me: I was supposed to finish my Corn Weenie, tonight, and have I even started? Not so much!

Crumbs.

I blame my spine[ is the bassline] (you can't not say it, once you get that far. if you're me.), and the bit that got rearranged when I wasn't looking, what with keeping my eyes on the road and the big red light overhead and all.
impending Percocet + the EFD showtime + Corn Weenie deadline => this is gonna be magnificent! Yaaay!
  12:33am
Joe:

The Manikins - For when you're this close to saying "Man, fuck it."

Great jorb on the epic live-show lineup EFD.
  12:33am
Jessica:

[the Atlantic City rosterreader reminded]
  12:36am
Michael from the Left Coast:

So EFD did you go to Chef Vola in AC? If not you missed the best meal in the state of New Jersey.
  12:37am
Cal Zone!:

Hey EFD, play something positive for Chimps. Lotta bad press lately. They can use some spin control.
  12:39am
efd:

Chef Vola? No, I missed that altogether. And here I thought I was doing OK by hitting Tony's Baltimore Grill for dinner.

Glad that roster of bands did some good, Jessica!

Cal, I'll see if I can scare something up to send a positive monkey message. Might have to wait for DAve the Spazz, though...
  12:47am
Michael from the Left Coast:

You were at the Tropicana?! You were right near Chef Vola! A missed opportunity.
  12:49am
efd:

oh man, next time!
  12:54am
Michael From the Left Coast:

I'll have to give you the unlisted number to Chef Vola--you have to make a reservation (and it's better to call because you probably wouldn't find the place without proper directions from them)
  12:56am
Joe:

This sitar is pretty good, but I feel like it needs some rapping over it.
  12:57am
Michael from the Left Coast:

Wow-is the rest of this Chris Joss record as good as this?
  12:59am
efd:

MIchael, yeah, it's pretty good - but, not all the songs feature sitar as prominently. There are some organ and flute-based songs as well.

Joe, I'd have a feeling you might be thinking that -- because I was, too!
  1:06am
Joe B:

Tony's Baltimore Grill rules! One of the best places ever!
  1:22am
Michael from the Left Coast:

Wow-Bill Nelson! Haven't heard this in ten years
  1:24am
Jessica:

omg Bill Nelson, yay!
I have this on vinyl. It gets played, sometimes.
That, plus Nice Face and Fallen Leaves. And the Batcave comp.
Otherwise it all kind of sits there and looks pretty, beside the slab o wood & belt drive contraption.
This isn't fair, tho, 'cause I can't dance around like it's 1983 with my back all discombobulated.
Play this again in a few weeks?
  1:25am
Jessica:

(Left Coast aso representin', bringing the Bill Nelson love [turns to lust])
  1:25am
efd:

Jessica, you're going to want me to play the next song again in a few weeks too, I'm afraid.
  1:29am
Jessica:

That's not going to be a problem, is it?

It took me a while: this could have been Fly Robin Fly, that song in the Mos Eiseley cantina, or... it's gone now.
My first thought was "How's he going to mix Bill Nelson and Billy Squier?"
  1:32am
efd:

ha! Now I feel like I'm being challenged! :)

This song definitely has that Silver Convention feel to it.
  1:33am
Spoony:

Great show, Evan.
  1:34am
Joe:

The Mos Eisley Cantina song is called "Mad About Me".

The band's name was "Figrin D'an and the Modal Nodes."

stop me, if I'm boring you.
  1:42am
efd:

And here I was worried about whether I'd be able to stay awake for the rest of my show.

Glad you're enjoying the show, Spoony!
  1:55am
Michael from the Left Coast:

I never saw a single episode of Mannix but loved watching the opening credits for this theme
  1:58am
Joe B:

Fave Mannix episode is the one with Buffalo Springfield
  1:58am
Joe:

The swami sounds like a cartoon cat who's name I can't recall. I want to say Top Cat. But I don't think it's him.
  10:49am
herb:

ooooh, so that's who sings "how do you do?". i recall it from when i first started listening to a.m. - tho my earliest memory off radio is "spirit in the sky" (which 104.3 played a lil before the GRAHAM NASH interv on sunday). plus, me wuv wuv wuv "hanging around" - when i started listening to WNYU, i'd write down a list of songs that thrilled me. it was on it (darn, where is that list?).
  12:04pm
laura:

Ooooh, can we have some more hints about what's going to be on the marathon premium?
