Listener comments!

  6:07am
Tom L:

OK, I admit I was disappointed when I heard Dan was not with us this morning. But the first two tracks are fantastic, so I feel we are in good hands! what was that first "song"? Wild, liked it.
  6:08am
Betsy:

Hey, thanks! It's from a CD of cult music from the 70's.
  6:10am
Tom L:

Excellent, thanks. How does one track that down? Montreal great too--Richie Havens produced goodness. Can now going. OK, I'm convinced. Looking forward to this show!
  6:13am
postmanpaul:

hi dj betsy nichols, you're a perfect accompaniment to my still-sleepy head...!
all new sounds to me so far and v nice they are too for my still-sleepy ears...lets go!
  6:14am
Betsy:

The cult comp is called "The Sound of Ascension: Audio Kool Aid from the 70s' Most Eccentric Cults & Communes." It is in our new bin here at the station. Try www.elsewherepublicworks.com to find it.
  6:14am
Betsy:

Hey Mister Postman thanks for listening!
  6:18am
Tom L:

That is the craziest website I've ever visited. Not sure what that will do to my head, or if I am too outside to be able to find my way inside.
  6:19am
Betsy:

Ha! Oh really? I haven't looked at it yet.
  6:23am
Tom L:

It is a terminal and you are supposed to figure out how to get in and find your way around. I feel like I am back in the 80s on my Radio Shack TRS 80. Spooky stuff.
  6:47am
DJ Mama:

LOVING the show Betsy! Love, love, love it! We don't want to leave the station!
Hey mister postman! We missed you this morning!
  6:49am
Betsy:

Howdy Mama! Thanks a lot.
  6:54am

I was also waiting for Dan, but I have to say this is a very, very nice selection...Kudos Betsy!
  6:57am
Betsy:

Hey Hector! Thanks a lot, I'm having a blast.Slept on the train coming over here, but now I'm oddly AWAKE.
  7:01am
Tom L:

The Plainsong is terrific.

As for being awake... First thoughts, best thoughts. It is downhill from here on out the rest of the day!
  7:33am
Tom L:

One incredible song after another.
  7:34am
Betsy:

Hey, thanks so much! Glad you're enjoying it.
  7:36am

  7:51am
Barry:

this is the best radio station i've ever heard. my friend told me about it last week....phew, i've been missing out.
  7:52am
cofeemouth:

RIP Clarence White. never played a bad lick
  7:56am
Betsy:

Hey Barry, WELCOME!

Yeah Coffee, Clarence White rules. There's a CD of him just playing instumentals that I wish I had here in the studio with me. One track, called "He Will Set Your Fields Afire" is amazing.
  8:18am
cofeemouth:

i was wonderin' if you'd play gram parsons at some point. i'm a huge fan. can't believe he was dead by 26!
  8:21am
Betsy:

Oh yes I love Gram!
  8:23am
rick armstrong:

I wished I had woken up earlier to hear more of your set. This is a great country/roots set here. I really wished I had heard the Hazlewood song off of that rare Sweden album. Oddly enough I was out seeing music last night and Mike Bones was one of the bands.
  8:27am
Betsy:

Hey Rick, that's awesome! I bet that was a fun show. You can listen to this show later today, when it is up in the WFMU archives.
  8:58am
ratty:

next time, and how will we know when that will be? i would like to hear some bunky and jake. i just bet you know this music. fingers crossed
  8:59am
Betsy:

Hey thanks! See you next time someone asks me to fill in. This was a blast! Byeee.
  9:12am
Barry:

you should have your own radio station. that was a great set.
  9:18am
Betsy:

Thanks Barry!
  1:22pm
Joe:

LOVED the show this morning. Listened while watching snow fall with my 2-year-old and was thoroughly blissed out. Especially dug the off-beat tracks from Travel Agency and the Bunch -- and the Chet Atkins countripolitan instrumental was a revelation.
  1:15pm
Emily:

Betsy rocks.
