A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Alice Coltrane carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

Bewitched! My pledge is coming next week, when my credit card has cleared.
  9:28am

Can the spell come first - and then the pledge? That way I could get a spell to make money come out my ears!

  9:55am
Ike:

Superstition is for dopes. Also, you're unlikely to hear any requests during the marathon. There are two flights of stairs from studio B down to the record library and they're busy playing premiums and prizes anyway. Plus, Donovan sucks even worse than that overplayed old silly witchcraft record.

Stingy, try not to spread your poor grammar to the next generation.
  9:57am
stingy d:

not my kid not my problem thats what i always say.

may i mambo dog face in the banana patch?

  10:07am
Liz B.:

Hey Stu, if the pledge page is giving you problems (maybe you are using a credit card?), try selecting paypal or bill me later as a payment option. Our CC option checks that your card billing zip code is a match.
  10:07am
Ike:

Where are you Stu? Have you tried calling it in at 1-800-989-9368? If that number doesn't work from your location then maybe 201-413-9368?
  10:08am
Ike:

Oops, I spoke too soon.
  10:10am
stingy d:

Hey, Trouble, I hate to be askin', but do you have Bettye Lavette doing Neil Young's Heart of Gold?

POS is a Minneapolis punk rocker and rapper with the Doomtree crew. He was on Jilly Bam's show about three or four weeks ago.
  10:28am

  10:37am
Golden Sours:

I had a dream last night that I went to a supermarket with John Lydon. That's kinda like being punched in the face by Mark E. Smith.
  10:38am
Cecile:

  10:55am
Cecile:

  10:56am
Liz B.:

  11:06am
Cecile:

FOTC make every day better and sixier.
  11:07am
Pearly Sweets:

I really want some tacos for lunch.
  11:07am
Sean Daily:

Not even close to first comment! Woo hoo!
  11:07am
Cecile:

I mean, I have a great reason now, Jorge. One of those big music festivals I have never gone to, but with more good bands that I would see in 10 years of concert going in Mpls.
  11:07am
Carmichael:

I have vowed to show my children La Sagrada Familia before we all die.
  11:08am
Patrick:

trouble, if you ever need any NFL talk feel free to give me a shout. im not going to generalize but unlike most FMU listeners i love football. you and i could do a sports zone on your show sometime.
  11:09am
Jorge:

Well actually Primavera is kinda of the best festivals in europe the guys curating just love music like you and me and they really care about their line up in a very sweet way.

I live just behind sagrada familia Carmichael looks shocking at night.
  11:09am
patrick:

We could call it "Jock Zone" and members of the Jock Squad could call in.
  11:10am
dc pat:

I'm up for a FIFA talk..
  11:10am
Cecile:

That's awesome, Jorge.
  11:10am
kittykittymeowmixhead:

  11:11am
kittykittymeowmixhead:

But I already pledged all my $ :(
  11:11am
Carmichael:

I'd be glad to do an "Around the Cribbage World in 30 seconds" thing.
  11:12am
Cecile:

she's got it. this lady she's got it. (re: love buzz)

My father in law is a serious, ranked cribbage player. That's why he doesn't play with my disheveled, amateur carcass.
  11:13am
Parq:

Jorge, si un traducir malo eres, tal ves haul heavy-ass crates puedes. Seeing Sagrada Familia is a worthy goal. All of the Gaudi buildings in Barcelona are worth seeing, but one would be well advised to spend an entire afternoon at the cathedral site, just examining the whole thing.
  11:14am
Carmichael:

Jorge, I know what you're talking about. I have every picture from every angle I could find. I'm obsessed with the cathedral and Antonio Gaudi.
  11:15am
patrick:

yeah we will talk about it all, Doping in Cycling, Pot use in the Swimming world. we can even take calls and give trash talking advice.
  11:15am
Carmichael:

This can't be Yoko Ono. I'm certain I heard an actual word.
  11:17am
dc pat:

you mean doping in baseball.
  11:19am
Cecile:

Here's my trash talking story. When I was in my basketball phase, we were watching the Celtics play the Timberwolves in 1990 in the Metrodome. Sidney Lowe was the Wolves' point guard and I loved to yell crap at him, cause I was a jerk and rooted for everyone who played against Minnesota.

"Hey, Slow and Low, you can't get the ball up court! Way to go Slow and Low! Perfect pass to the first row!"

Finally, after about 5 minutes this kid goes:

"Well, Larry Bird is not very good."

The whole nosebleed section just died laughing.
  11:19am
Doug from DC:

It's great to hear Yoko throw it back at her detractors, I love that song. You know, Black Easter by Sol Invictus would go well with all this witchery.
  11:26am
Parq:

I got to see Brightblack Morning Light on stage recently. It's good stuff, gang!
  11:26am
Carmichael:

I was at a Kings game once, and I called Charles Barkley a "fat ass". He turned around and said, "Why don't you go back to work and count your ball bearings?"
  11:28am
dc pat:

jeeze, that's pretty good Carmichael. He kind of shut you down. Where's Stingy? He's an NBA fanatic.
  11:29am
Emily:

I still can't believe I won the eccentric soul cd!! Thanks so much!! I'm so happy!!! Go WFMU!!
  11:30am
Cecile:

ooh, carm, burn from Barkley!
  11:31am
still b/p:

Back to Barcelona -- I didn't know until recently:
A) that the cathedral is so unfinished they're trying to figure out what else to do with it. Performance space (!), train station, or such. (Any news, Jorge?)
B) what a stern-minded whack-job Gaudi was, in contrast to the organic fantasia designs he executed.
  11:31am
Carmichael:

Ya, sad but true. I mean really, who's dumb enough to talk smack with Sir Charles?
  11:34am
Carmichael:

Gaudi was one focused sum bitch. He set up a construction schedule that would last 100 years after his death. Last I heard, it was progressing nicely, funding notwithstanding.

Kind of like WFMU.
  11:36am
still b/p:

Corvus a la Barkley: crow with chilled ball bearings in a bitter sauce.
  11:40am
Cecile:

*bows to b/p*
  11:43am
Parq:

That's the best reason to spend a long time at the cathedral. You can take the guided tour, then study the exhibits (both historical and architectural) in the basement, and then spend a leisurely time examining the building as it's being built, seeing up close how what you've just learned about is being put into effect. As an artistic, architectural and historical exploration, it is second to none.
  11:45am
dc pat:

quit talking Gaudi! I'm just getting more and more pissed that I haven't been to Spain yet...
  11:51am
dc pat:

man, I'm a big fan of anarchists but they seem to have destroyed the blueprints for Sagrada Familia durying the civil war which is causing all the construction problems... dicks.
  11:56am
Carmichael:

I've never been to Spain, but I kinda like the music.
  11:56am
Hugo:

Our own cathedral is obviously much less spectacular than the one in Barcelona, but on the other hand, Sunn O))) made a wall-shaking concert there about two years ago, now out on the Southern Lord label entitled "Domkirke". Another feature of the cathedral is the cannon ball lodged in the front wall, from a sea battle centuries ago.
  11:59am
Cecile:

oooooooooooooooooh, Kenny G.

LOL! Sunn O)))). They are funny

NICE, HUGO! awesome about the cannonball.
