  11:18pm
efd:

hi joabj, dan and Joe!

And Joe, don't overthink it. :)
  11:19pm
Joe:

In a young man's mind it's a simple world/
there's a little room for music and the rest is girls.
  11:20pm
Sybil:

I've got a little room for music.
  11:23pm
john:

Hey!

And am I totally hallucinating, speaking of The Godfathers, thinking I heard the Sid Presley Experience on WNYU?
  11:24pm
dave:

man, jonathan kane just keeps getting awesomer.
  11:25pm
Sybil:

This song reminds me of the time I listened to a Stranglers album that had a well-placed scratch on it.

And didn't realize it for about 20 minutes.
  11:25pm
Joe:

I know, Dave. I'm really starting to think I should go back and listen to some music from those "The Swans."
  11:25pm
efd:

John, I wouldn't be surprised, though I think they were after my time there.
Dave, agreed.
Hi Sybil! 1-0 so far!
  11:25pm
Sybil:

That's not a criticism.
  11:26pm
john:

That wasn't a scratch, Sybil. Just the whole Meninblack album.
  11:26pm
Sybil:

How did you guess, john?
  11:28pm
John:

Because I own the <yawn> record. And saw them on that tour, way the heck back in early 1981...and that's what it sounded like, though it was fun live, anyway.
  11:29pm
dave:

yeah, joe. i've never heard any of the swans stuff. i'm almost afraid to.
  11:31pm
joabj:

The producers are the secret history of rock n' roll.
  11:33pm
john:

Madame Wong's was on Wilshire Blvd in Santa Monica, I think. Did my time there in the late 80s.
  11:34pm
Courtney:

As far as The Kinks, I'm partial to "Something Else By The Kinks".
  11:34pm
joabj:

F2F,SE, VGPS, A, LvP&MG, MH, EiSB & don't forget KK and the Great Lost Kinks Album...
  11:35pm
johnk77:

there were 2 madame wong's in southern california in the early 1980's.
i remember the first one was in LA's chinatown, perhaps downtown LA?
the second madame wong's was on the west side of LA.
  11:36pm
Joe:

Wow the vocals sound -great-.
  11:36pm
Listener Pete:

  11:37pm
john:

You're right, i think the original was in Chinatown but that closed early, while the Santa Monica one was open into the early 90s--I couldn't have got there before '86.
  11:37pm
eattothebeat:

Re: 'Lab -- It's officially a "hiatus" but they do have a new 31 song record coming out, so fear not.
  11:37pm
Glenn L:

cheri:

  11:46pm
Glenn L:

efd, truth be told, It was JohnK77 who showed me almost all of what I know about live sound engineering.

It's all his fault...., I mean I owe all my fame & fortune to him.
  11:47pm
efd:

cheri, you know Toni Daytona? I had no idea!

In other Luann news, do you think Luann and Gunther are finally going to hook up??
  11:47pm

  12:01am
Laurie:

  12:19am
stingy schooly:

no more rock and roll
  12:20am
efd:

Joe, you're right, he should have borrowed the helmet also. The sessions were recorded a week apart, but I acquired information during the Cyclone 60 session that led to Mr. Fiberglass's heroics the following week,

Is that cryptic enough? I will not be commenting further on the matter.
  12:21am
john:

I thought Action Painting too for a moment. Just another 1990 flashback, I'm afraid.
  12:26am
cheri:

evan--whens your birthday?? mine is july 12th,,,
  12:28am
stingy d:

mines, not that anyone asked, but because it's awful close to cheri... is july 14th
  12:38am
efd:

a bastille day birthday! nice, Stingy. Mine is Sept 27.

You all realize that now of course I'll expect you all to remember it and wish me a happy birthday in about 5 1/2 months with no additional reminders.
  12:40am
Joe:

Yes, I'm sure there will be no additional reminders on your publicly accessable twitter, facebook, and myspace pages.

Leos rule, btw.
  12:41am
Joe:

And awesome job getting the Obits! I am SO INTO that record.
  12:41am
Sybil:

That is why we have iCal.

Great live set, btw. (I have had my hands full, but I enjoyed listening to it while I worked!)
  12:45am
cheri:

efd,,i'll certainly remember,,,& again thnx for your company,,,g'nite=)=)
  12:46am
efd:

goodnight Cheri!

Sybil, glad you enjoyed the set! And Joe, glad you're looking forward to the Obits - I am too! Took a while to get it all finalized, but I got the official word yesterday. Woo!
  12:53am
Danne D:

Evan Funk Dominator, lord of the diamond, good evening sir!

3*3 = 9
3*3*3 =27
= Evan's birthday.

I'm yet another Cancerian in the audience. 6/30 :)

Go Barre Ks!
  12:54am
Laurie:

Yay!
  12:56am
stingy d:

ok, i'm gonna finish my glass of whiskey, and listen to jack nitzsche while i fall asleep, its a pleasure as always. one of these days me and joe will beat the shit out of someone for you evan. and then we'l clink our beers so hard to crumble in our hands, and we'll laugh and laugh.
  12:58am
Joe:

You know, I always figured Ken would be the first WFMU Dj to inspire violence in his name.

But on the other hand, I do enjoy the occasional beer...
  1:00am
stingy d:

ken is a barrel of pillows. goodnight
  1:03am
john:

Evan, were The Oysters from somewhere around your original neck of the woods? I could be totally making it up, but I vaguely recall them from college.
  1:07am
efd:

John, your memory serves you well, to quote Julie Driscoll. They are indeed from Boston, and included a pre-Titanics/Satanics/Upper Crust Dave Fredette
  1:25am
Laurie:

Bed time for me!! Goodnight, friendo.
  1:26am
efd:

ha! goodnight, Laurie!
  1:28am
john:

And for about 28 years here I was thinking I was the only person in America who liked Secret Affair.
  1:29am
Joe:

You know, I'm beginning to suspect that Evan has a soft spot for power-pop.
  1:32am
efd:

Joe, you are a man of very acute perceptions.
  1:34am
Joe:

GG king - what a name.
  1:39am
john:

More to the point, I have an opportunity to pick up Matt Wieters in my other league, and can't decide which everyday player to drop for a Triple-A catcher.
  1:41am
Danne D:

my team is finally getting coordinated a little. My pitcher gave up an RBI single to my other guy and then continued on to get a save :)

We'll need to do a who's who and how on the league site efd!

(As a side note, I've been humbled to realize that I haven't been a very active baseball fan for like, oh a decade so hopefully I don't embarrass myself.)

Anyhow, enjoy the show as always EFD!
  1:43am
Danne D:

er, enjoying the show that is
  1:46am
efd:

thanks, Dan.

John, I'm not sure if Wieters would be worth dropping a player who's actually on a major league team....?
  1:48am
john:

Good point, but he's still probably the AL ROY after they call him up in a month or two, and I have five guys who can play right field, so it's adios Elijah Dukes (bad attitude, great upside) or J. D. Drew (Great attitude, bad upside).
  1:50am
efd:

do you have as many RF in your other league as you have 2B in my league?
  1:53am
john:

Technically, more, because of all the outfielders who play multiple positions in the OF. But hey, anyone needs a 2B who isn't Brandon Phillips, I'm your man.
  1:54am
Danne D:

LOL
sorry I only use 2Bs named Lopez apparently
  1:56am
john:

Whoa, I haven't heard this Maisonettes single since the '80s, and I actually own it.
  1:58am
Danne D:

g'night kids!
